North Korea Attacks South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island...

Veronica - Now Our Lady is pointing over to Her right side, the left side of the sky. And I see a very large ball forming. It looks like a globe of the world; but strangely it has a, like a wick on the top.
            And now coming out of the sky, I see a very comical-looking figure. I think he's comical; then again he's kind of frightening. His face is extremely fat, and his teeth are huge. But he looks like an Oriental of some kind. He's smiling in a very strange way. I notice he has—he's short and has like a stubby type of body. But he's grinning in a very evil-looking way. As he stands with his hands behind him, he's looking about now and it looks as though he's waiting for something. Oh, my goodness!

            Now he's bringing out from behind his back what appears to be a long tapered candle. And he's reaching up now. The candle has a light on it; it looks like he's about to touch the wick on the bomb. It looks like a bomb, but it looks like the world with a wick sticking out of it. Oh, my goodness!
            He's a very—don't know who he is; I don't recognize him. But he's an Oriental and has very large teeth; and the grin, even, the way he's grinning makes his teeth very—kind of prominent. But he has—I must say he gives you a feeling of fright because his smile is very evil. Now I can't see him. It's as though a veil is being placed over the scene.
            Now Our Lady is moving over closer to our left side, Her right side.
            Our Lady - "My child and My children, I have given you now sight of what is to be soon. You will understand in the near future, My children. And you, My child, will not reveal the writing beneath it. Look now, remember, but do not repeat.

Veronica - And there he is again, that terrible-looking man. I don't know who he is, but he has an Oriental appearance. I can see now what appears to be a globe, a globe of the world, but you could almost picture it as a bomb because it has a wick on the top of it.
            Now over—standing next to it, gloatingly, with a most satanic-looking, evil smile on his face, a smile so big that his teeth are extended, and they look very large in his mouth, almost exaggerated—he is a short man, quite husky. He's in some kind of a uniform that I don't recognize. It's—looks like an olive green color.
            And now he's standing there as though he's gloating over something, and he's taking his hand now from behind his back again and holding out his long tapered candle. He has a very thin, long tapered candle that's lighted, and now he's reaching over again to light the wick, as though—I do believe it must indicate starting perhaps a, a terrible war or something.  I get that impression from his uniform and the fact he's lighting the wick upon the world. The United States is to press China to rein in North Korea to prevent further provocative incidents such as yesterday's deadly artillery attack on a South Korean island close to the border.

Although the US is dispatching the carrier George Washington for a show of solidarity with the South this weekend, Washington has few options left to use as leverage on North Korea. Instead, it is hoping that China, Pyongyang's closest ally, will play a pivotal part in restoring calm.

The US state department spokesman, PJ Crowley, said today: "China does have influence with North Korea and we would hope and expect China would use that influence."

Barack Obama, in a telephone call to his South Korean counterpart, Lee Myung-bak, late last night said the US would stand shoulder to shoulder with its ally.

The White House said the George Washington and other warships would join South Korean naval forces on Sunday. The US had been due to take part in military training but had postponed involvement, citing scheduling conflicts.

The resumption of the joint exercise is one of the mildest responses available to the US and South Korea, and Washington was seeking to cool passions as quickly as possible.

Crowley played down the attack, characterising it as an isolated incident. In support of this, the US reported that the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-il, had been on a factory visit at the time, whereas if the crisis had been premeditated, it is more likely he would have been at the military command centre.

Obama sees China as the key to resolving tensions. In an interview with Barbara Walters of ABC News, he said Beijing should "make clear to North Korea that there are a set of international rules that they need to abide by".

Although the response of the US and South Korea has been modest, there is still a danger that North Korea could interpret a joint exercise as provocation.

"The North Koreans see it as an offensive move, however many times it happens," warned Professor Hazel Smith of Cranfield University in the UK, who argued that the artillery attack illustrated the military's dominance in North Korea, in contrast with the rule of Kim Il-sung, who led the country from 1948 to 1994.

"We are in uncharted waters … Under Kim Il-sung, the military were controlled by civil power. That is not the case in Kim Jong-il's North Korea."

Smith added: "This is a highly dangerous situation unless people start getting involved in negotiations."

The eventual objective of the US is to see North Korea resume diplomatic talks about abandoning its nuclear weapons ambitions in return for economic aid.

On Yeonpyeong island, which was subjected to the artillery barrage, the burnt bodies of two civilians in their 60s were found, thought to have been killed in the bombardment, bringing the death toll to four. The South Korean coastguard said the two men were construction workers.

Two soldiers died in the attack and several people were injured, including civilians.

Around 500 people were moved by the coastguard to nearby Incheon and housed in a bathhouse, sleeping on mats provided by the Red Cross.

One of the evacuees, Kim Eung-seok, said: "We don't understand why people of the same blood are attacking each other."

Another 400 people remained on the island, mostly young men who are helping repair the damage.

Park Jae-bok, a fisherman who was among those moved, said: "I want to know about my business. What will happen while I'm gone? I want to be able to work again. I just want the government to make it safe for us to live like we did before."

North Korean Aggression Thanks to U.S. Presidents...

Thanks to President Bill Clinton we are now seeing North Korea attack South Korea.  In 1994, Clinton authorized two light-water nuclear reactors worth over $4.5 billion to be shipped to North Korea in addition to grain and over half a million tons of fuel oil a year. In return, Clinton received assurances that the technology would not be used to build nuclear weapons. The food somehow disappeared in North Korean military trucks, exacerbating the famine. The fuel went to government use. Newsweek reported in 1999 that Secretary of State Madeline Albright said the administration was trying to resolve concerns with North Korea regarding "suspicious underground construction activities and long-range missile programs."

Now the United States has a possible nuclear threat in Asia because of a president who scuttled the doctrine of deterrence to a theory that if everyone had nuclear weapons, nobody would use them.  North Korea recently disclosed that it was operating another uranium enrichment program. Over the years, it has been reported that North Korea, China and Russia have been assisting Iran in building nuclear weapons and the missile systems to deliver them. North Korean scientists have been documented at Iranian nuclear facilities. Giving up nuclear technology to the North Koreans assisted all the evil-doers in the region to advance their destructive intentions. 

The US was duped in 1991 into removing the tactical nuclear weapons it had stationed in South Korea as part of an agreement with North Korea to "denuclearitize" the North Korean peninsula. Now the South Koreans are sending diplomatic signals that perhaps the nukes need to be redeployed to deter an aggressive North Korea. The White House has issued a statement saying, "The United States strongly condemns this attack and calls on North Korea to halt its belligerent action." The White House also said, "The United States is firmly committed to the defense of our ally, the Republic of Korea, and to the maintenance of regional peace and stability."

The attack is likely to put more pressure on the US-China relationship, which is already deteriorating due to differences over China's refusal to adjust its currency to the world market. It is suspected by military experts, however denied by the White House, that China sent a warning to the US by firing a missile from a submarine off the California coast several days ago. China did not take sides in the North Korean dispute, saying only that the two sides should "do more to contribute to peace and stability in the region."  Jesus said in Matthew 24:6, "And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars.  See that ye be not troubled.  For these things must come to pass: but the end is not yet." DRB.  Watch and pray.
