India magazine paints scenario of horror of nuclear war...

NEW DELHI, Jun 04, 2002 (Kyodo via COMTEX) -- A nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan would obliterate major urban centers in both countries and cause the deaths of millions, an Indian weekly magazine says in a special report on the horrors of a nuclear war between the feuding neighbors.

India Today, which looked at the nuclear apocalypse in its latest issue on sale Tuesday, says the Indian capital New Delhi would turn into a mammoth graveyard if it is hit by a nuclear strike from Pakistan. An Indian nuclear reprisal, it says, would in turn completely destroy the urban areas of Islamabad and other major Pakistani population centers.

The India Today cover carries a scene of horror-stricken Indians fleeing the capital with a huge mushroom cloud serving as background. Inside, the article tells the story of the horror of nuclear weapons, using pictures and data on the destruction in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the two Japanese atom-bombed cities, by way of illustration.

The article says if New Delhi comes under nuclear attack, up to 200,000 people near the blast center would die within 5 seconds. In 10 seconds, all buildings within 10 kilometers of the hypocenter would be destroyed. Within 10 hours, the Indian military would launch a major nuclear reprisal and Pakistan may vanish as a country, it says.

The article also cites an estimate by the U.S. Pentagon that up to 12 million people will die in India and Pakistan in case of a nuclear exchange between them.

     Veronica - The angel who is showing the vision is with him. The flying roll is approximately 35 to 40 feet long. The width, half the length (a cubit is the distance from the elbow to the fingertips).
     "Then He said to me, 'This is the curse that goeth over the face of the whole earth: for everyone that stealeth shall be cut off on this side according to it: and everyone that sweareth shall be cut off on that side according to it.
     "'I will bring it forth, saith the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by My name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house and consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.'"
     Veronica - The flying roll flies over the earth and kills people on both sides. The flying roll destroys their houses. The houses are burnt and consumed.
     The size of the flying roll would be about the size of the new multiple warhead ICBM'S or orbital bombs, the ones that will carry ten H-bombs each. - March 23, 1970
