Mel Gibson -
The man
without a face is now revered by millions around the world...
Here is a true story by Paul Harvey. You will be surprised who this young man turns out to be.
Years ago a hardworking man took his family from New York State to Australia to take advantage of a work opportunity there. Part of this man's family was a handsome young son who had aspirations of joining the circus as a trapeze artist or an actor. This young fellow, biding his time until a circus job or even one as a stagehand came along, worked at the local shipyards which bordered on the worse section of town.
Walking home from work one evening this young man was attacked by five thugs who wanted to rob him. Instead of just giving up his money the young fellow resisted. However, they bested him easily and proceeded to beat his body brutally with clubs, leaving him for dead. When the police happened to find him lying in the road they assumed he was dead and called for the Morgue Wagon. On the way to the morgue a policeman heard him gasp for air, and they immediately took him to the emergency unit at the hospital. When he was placed on gurney a nurse remarked to her horror, that this young man no longer had a face. Each eye socket was smashed, his skull, legs, and arms fractured, his nose literally hanging from his face, all his teeth were gone, and his jaw was almost completely torn from his skull. Although his life was spared, he spent over a year in the hospital.
When he finally left, his body may have healed but his face was disgusting to look at. He was no longer the handsome youth that everyone admired. When the young man started to look for work again he was turned down by everyone just on account of the way he looked. One potential employer suggested to him that he join the freak show at the circus as "The Man Who Had No Face". And he did this for a while. He was still rejected by everyone and no one wanted to be seen in his com any. He had thoughts of suicide. This went on for five years.
One day he passed a church and sought some solace there. Entering the church he encountered a priest who had seen him sobbing while kneeling in a pew. The priest took pity on him and took him to the rectory where they talked at length. The priest was impressed with him to such a degree that he said that he would do everything
Possible for him that could be done to restore his dignity and life, if the young man would promise to be the best Catholic he could be, and trust in God's mercy to free him from his torturous life. The young man went to Mass and communion everyday and after thanking God for saving his life, asked God to only give him peace of mind and the grace to be the best man he could ever be in His eyes.
The priest, through his personal contacts was able to secure the services of the best plastic surgeon in Australia. There would be no cost to the young man as the doctor was the priest's best friend. The doctor too was so impressed by the young man, whose outlook now on life, even though he had experienced the worst, was filled with good humor and love. The surgery was a miraculous success.
All the best dental work was also done for him. The young man became everything he promised God he would be. He was also blessed with a wonderful, beautiful wife, many children, and success in an industry which would have been the furthest thing from his mind as a career, if not for the goodness of God and the love of the people who cared for him. This he acknowledges publicly. The young man is Mel Gibson. His life was the inspiration for his production of the movie "The Man Without A Face." He is to be admired by all of us as a God fearing man, a political conservative, and an example to all as a true man of courage.
Mel Gibson has produced the movie "The Passion of the Christ." This is his way of thanking God for his many blessings. And it's also his way of showing us how Christ truly suffered.
Passion of the Christ movie…
This movie is the greatest work of art involving Christ since
Michelangelo created the Pieta says former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan.
As I write this letter is has grossed $267,680,889. It looks as if it may be
one of the greatest films of all time. And why not? It is about Our Lord’s
Passion, the greatest act of love of all time.
While the film was being made miracles happened. An atheist and a Muslim
converted to the Catholic Faith. The actor James Caviezel was struck by
lightening and survived. And now miracles are happening in the theaters.
The Protestants see this film as a great instrument for revival. They have
created a CD to instruct their people how to use the film as an instrument of
conversion and to bring people to their churches. What are the Catholic
hierarchy doing? They are doing little or nothing with the great film.
Pope John Paul saw it and exclaimed; “It is as it was.” Billy Graham wept
during the movie and said he felt now that he was actually present at Christ’s
Passion.
Mel Gibson is a Roman Catholic who attends only the Latin Tridentine Mass.
They had the Tridentine Mass everyday on the set while making the film. I think
Mel Gibson should be considered for canonization when he passes over the veil
because of the souls he saved through this extraordinary work of art. Pray for
safety of Mel Gibson and James Caviezel. There have been threats on their
lives.
If you haven’t seen the film, take your friends and go see it. Encourage
your family and friends who are not attending Mass. Encourage everyone you
meet to see it. Let us make it the most successful film ever in honor of Our
Lord’s Passion.
Let us pray that the hierarchy, the priests and the laity are inspired to
make a contribution to the Faith like Mel Gibson is in saving souls.

I live anew My Passion and My
suffering...
"As I look upon your world, I live anew My Passion and My suffering. I look upon
your world and I am forced to say: Has My Sacrifice been in vain? Always in the
past the Father has sent upon your world a just punishment. The Father has
created and the Father will take away! From your world, many souls will be
removed!" - Jesus, March 29, 1975
Did My Son give Himself in
sacrifice for nothing?
"My child, I am truly the Mother of great sorrow. As I cast My eyes about your
world, I see much taking place that is repeating the time of My Son and His
great Sacrifice.
"I cry bitter tears, for I can only ask, My children, why have you allowed
satan to take you on your present path? Did My Son give Himself in sacrifice
for nothing? Have you forgotten your purpose for living upon earth?" - Our
Lady of the Roses, March 22, 1975
Basket weave cap...
Veronica - And now He's tapping His forehead. Oh, He wants me to tell you,
as He told me this afternoon, that I must tell the world that when He was
crucified ... they have a false notion about His crown of thorns.
The crown of thorns were placed in a basket weave cap and then placed on
His head, and He was pummeled and hammered with sticks and a sledge hammer to
get it down on His head; and that drove the terrible spikes of the thorns into
His head. It seems that His murderers could not find gloves at the time to
handle the thorns. So they thought to take their implements and place these
terrible thorn weeds inside of the basket weave hat. And that is what Jesus wore
when He was crucified. - September 27, 1986
The Agony in the Garden...
I saw Jesus on His knees, bent over in anguish, praying.... There was a
great sadness in His face, great sorrow. He was talking to His Father in Heaven:
"Father, I will drink of this cup, down to the last dreg, if it be Your will. It
is not I that should seek that this cup be removed from Me. My strength is
everlasting in the light, and My heart a bleeding vessel for this cup."
