HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told the Senate today during the hearing that Biden administration “twisted the data” on the dangerous abortion pill mifepristone to over up how it hurts women.

The abortion drug, responsible for killing millions of babies in America and millions more worldwide, is also very dangerous for women, who are filling emergency rooms across the country with a variety of complications, some life threatening.

The Biden administration didn’t do women any favors with the dangerous abortion pill and warning them that a high percentage of women will suffer medical problems as a result of it – with some women dying or such severe complications they may never be able to have children.

Kennedy told pro-life Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma that he doesn’t have a timing on a full report that the HHS is working up about the abortion pill complications.

But in a more alarming – but not surprising – statement, Kennedy admitted that the Biden admin covered up the problems.

“We’re getting data in all the time – new data – that we’re reviewing,” he explained. “And we know that during the Biden administration, they actually twisted the data to bury one of the safety signals – a very high safety signal of 11%.

“We’re going to make sure that doesn’t happen anymore,” Kennedy added. “We’re producing honest science and gold standard science on that.”

Kennedy’s comments refer to a recent analysis showing that 11% of women who take the abortion pill mifepristone suffer medical problems.

The analysis of commercial insurance data from 865,727 prescribed chemical  abortions between 2017 and 2023 showing 94,605 women suffered serious adverse events  indicates that more than one out of ten women are put at risk by mifepristone. Nearly 11% of women taking mifepristone experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhage, or another serious adverse event within 45 days of taking the drug.

Complications included sepsis (0.10% of cases), infection (1.34%), transfusion (0.15%), hemorrhage (3.31%), abortion-related hospitalization (0.66%), abortion-related emergency room visit (4.73%), ectopic pregnancy (0.35%), unspecified other abortion-specific complications (5.68%), and other life-threatening adverse events (0.22%), including cardiac and pulmonary events, thrombosis, anaphylaxis, and the necessity of surgery. In nearly 3% of instances, use of mifepristone to commit abortion was followed by surgical abortion because the drug failed.

Despite these problems, Obama and Biden removed safety warnings on the abortion drug.

In an email to LifeNews, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser thanked Kennedy for his comments.

“As women and children are harmed, these dangerous drugs continue to be bought and sold with no commonsense safeguards and no accountability. Enough is enough.

“Disturbing that abortion drugs are fueling abuse nationwide are growing– including cases where health care professionals prescribe them off-label to men who then use them against women’s will and without their knowledge. We look forward to hearing the update on restoring the in-person dispensing of mifepristone.”
