GoFundMe has shut down multiple fundraising campaigns created on behalf of the ex-convict accused of brutally stabbing and killing 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska aboard a Charlotte light-rail train.

As Slay News reported, 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was violently murdered shortly after boarding the Lynx Blue Line just after 9:45 p.m. on Friday, August 22.

Police identified the attacker as 34-year-old Decarlos Brown.

Brown was arrested shortly after the stabbing and charged with first-degree murder.

Records obtained by The New York Post reveal Brown’s extensive criminal history spanning more than a decade.

His past charges include felony larceny, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and communicating threats.

Yet, despite the horrific unprovoked murder of an innocent young woman, leftists are using GoFundMe to raise money for the suspected killer.

Speaking to the Washington Examiner, the company explained that it had removed the pages and refunded donor money:

“GoFundMe’s Terms of Service explicitly prohibit fundraisers for the legal defense of anyone formally charged with a violent crime.

“Consistent with this long-standing policy, all fundraisers for Decarlos Brown Jr.’s legal defense have been removed from the platform, and any donors have been fully refunded.”

According to the outlet, the campaigns were taken down within hours of being flagged.

GoFundMe declined to specify how many pages were removed but stressed that it actively monitors for and blocks attempts to raise money for violent offenders.

The move came after a wave of public backlash online, with critics calling the fundraising efforts for Brown “an insult” to Zarutska, who had fled the war in Ukraine only to be murdered on American soil.

Zarutska’s employer, Zepeddie’s Pizza, remembered her in a statement:

“Recently, our Zepeddie’s family suffered a tremendous loss.

“We lost not only an incredible employee but a true friend.

“Our dear Iryna left this world far too soon, and our hearts are heavy with grief.

“Since her passing, we have kept a candle burning in her memory—a small reminder of the warmth, kindness, and light she brought into our lives every single day.

“We are so grateful for the love, support, and prayers we’ve received during this difficult time.

“Iryna, we miss you more than words can say.

“You will forever be in our hearts.”

Her obituary described her as a passionate artist and graduate of Synergy College in Kyiv, with a degree in Art and Restoration.

She was remembered for her creativity, her love of animals, and her determination.

On Aug. 22, authorities say Zarutska was fatally stabbed on Charlotte’s Lynx Blue Line after sitting in front of Brown, who allegedly pulled out a folding knife and slashed her throat without provocation.

Surveillance video shows her boarding in her pizzeria uniform, scrolling on her phone, as Brown sat behind her in a red hoodie.

Four minutes later, he launched the deadly attack.

Brown is now charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Court records reviewed by Fox News Digital show he has a long rap sheet dating back more than a decade, including larceny, breaking and entering, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and more recent charges of communicating threats and abusing the 911 system.

He previously served over six years in prison before being released in 2020.

While Brown’s defense campaigns have been banned from GoFundMe, a verified fundraiser to support Zarutska’s grieving family remains active.

The shocking crime has reignited debate over public safety in American cities. President Donald Trump addressed the case during remarks at the Museum of the Bible.

“We’re all people of religion, but there are evil people,” Trump said.

“And we have to confront that.

“I just give my love and hope to the family of the young woman who was stabbed this morning or last night in Charlotte by a madman.”
