Taking a Look at Pope Leo XIV...
"THERE MUST BE ALWAYS CHARITY AND PRAYER"
"My
children, pray a constant vigilance of prayer, I beg you, for you do not know
what is soon to come upon you. Pray for your bishops, My child. There is no
place for anger in your heart, but there must be always charity and prayer."
- Our Lady, December 7, 1978
"My child, I beg you to continue your mission of praying for your priests, your bishops, and your cardinals. Pray for them constantly." - Our Lady, May 28, 1977

Lepanto Institute reported on May 9, 2025:
By Michael Hichborn
Yesterday afternoon (EDT in the US, anyway), the Catholic Church and the entire world were introduced to the first pope to come from the United States of America. Stepping out onto the loggia, wearing the traditional red mozzetta and red and gold stole, Pope Leo XIV imparted a traditional blessing upon all those present and watching the announcement of the new pope.
This simple gesture was a stark departure from the rejection of tradition twelve years earlier, when Pope Francis stepped out with only a simple white cassock, and a mere wave of his hand as he said, “buonasera.” There really is no way to sugar-coat the Francis papacy, it was a dark period of deep moral confusion marked by fear and oppression, so the opening of this new pontificate is refreshing. That having been said, there is cause for concern. But even in light of the unsettling things I’m about to share with you, there are also reasons for hope. First, I will present to you the upsetting information I have found, and then I will share with you why we should remain optimistic.
Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was raised in a suburb of Chicago. He was an altar boy in his youth, and since the New Mass wasn’t introduced until 1969 or 1970, he very likely served the Traditional Mass. In 1977, he earned his BA from Villanova, which is now known for its heretodox views, but more concerning is the Master of Divinity he obtained from the Catholic Theological Union – a den of Marxism and heresy. To say that the mention of his name as the next pope came as a gut punch for me would be an understatement. But after I got over my initial shock, and having looked into as much as I could find, there are as many rays of hope as there are signs for concern.
I read through Cardinal Prevost’s tweets going back to 2012, and what I can conclude from what I’ve seen is that this is precisely what we can expect from a hierarch of the USCCB. He has a long history of strong, pro-life messages in his social media posts, but he also has many posts promoting the climate-change nonsense. During the lockdowns of 2020, he conducted a Eucharistic procession, carrying the Monstrance through the streets of Peru. He decried the “racism” surrounding the incident involving George Floyd, he stated his opposition to the death penalty, he stands firmly against the Trump administration’s policies against illegal immigration, and he regularly “retweets” Leftist sources.
For all intents and purposes, the candidate of this profile would seem all the world to be effectively Francis 2.0. However, there are now confirmed reports that prior to the conclave, Cardinal Prevost was seen entering Cardinal Burke’s residence for a private meeting. We do not know what they discussed, but whatever it was, it has led to a rather affable statement from Cardinal Burke on the election of Pope Leo XIV. Cardinal Burke wrote:
Please join me in thanking Our Lord for the election of Pope Leo XIV, Successor of Saint Peter, as the Shepherd of the Church throughout the world. The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe at La Crosse has a particularly strong bond with the Roman Pontiff, especially through its affiliation with the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major. I urge all pilgrims and friends of the Shrine to pray fervently for Pope Leo XIV that Our Lord, through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Saint Peter Apostle, and Pope Saint Leo the Great, will grant him abundant wisdom, strength, and courage to do all that Our Lord is asking of Him in these tumultuous times. May God bless Pope Leo and grant him many years. Viva il Papa!
Cardinal Robert Sarah expressed his jubilation by saying: “Great joy! May God bless in abundance Pope Leo XIV! We are praying with fervor!”
In addition to this, Pope Leo XIV’s first Mass was in Latin, filled with incense, Gregorian chant, traditionally oriented vestments, and he carried a traditional papal ferula (the pastoral staff of the Holy Father). He is also rumored – from multiple sources now – to have had the only indult from Pope Francis to say the Traditional Latin Mass in Rome after the imposition of Traditionis Custodes.
These are firm signs of hope, and an impetus for us to pray with a great deal of fervor and zeal for the Holy Father. The Church has a long history of popes who rose to power through a tortured past. Pope Vigilius, for instance, was an anti-pope for nearly nine months before he actually became the true pope. He was placed on the throne by Empress Theodora, who imprisoned the true, living pope, Silverius. Theodora was a Monophysite heretic, who wished to see Monophysitism enshrined as a doctrine of the faith, and Vigilius promised her to do exactly that, should she help him become the pope. After deposing and imprisoning Silverius, Vigilius spent his time securing his own power and convincing the rest of the Church that he was the pope – but when Silverius died, Vigilius was declared to be the pope by public acclaim, and almost immediately after, he wrote to Theodora stating that he could not do as he had promised.
Pope Pius IX was elected to the papacy in 1846 when he was just 54 years old. In addition to being widely believed to be a Freemason, Cardinal Mastai Ferretti (who would become Pope Pius IX) was elected with the belief that he would usher in a period of liberalism in the Church. For those who may be shocked by the assertion that Pope Pius IX may have been a Freemason, an 1874 edition of “The Voice of Masonry” states:
"At the semi-annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of Masons Scottish Rite of the Orient of Palermo, Italy, on 27th March last, Pope Pius IX, was excommunicated from the Order. The decree of expulsion was published in the official Masonic paper at Cologne, Germany, and is preceded by the minute of the Lodge in which he was initiated, and is as follows:
"'A man named Mastai Ferretti, who received the baptism of Freemasonry, and solemnly pledged his love and fellowship, and who afterwards was crowned Pope and King, under the title of Pio Nino, has now cursed his former Brethren and excommunicated all members of the Order of Freemasons. Therefore, said Mastai Ferretti is herewith, by decree of the Grand Lodge of the Orient, Palermo, expelled from the Order for perjury.'”
Whether this is true or not (Freemasons are liars), the fact remains that he was indeed rumored to have been a member of the masonic lodge, thus fueling the belief that he would adopt liberal principles for the Church. However, in addition to upholding and expounding on the Church’s condemnation and excommunication of Freemasons, Pope Pius IX published some of the strongest condemnations of liberalism, moral relativism, secularism, and enlightenment thinking from the highest authority in the Church.
All things being equal, the background we have seen in Cardinal Prevost’s personal development, spiritual development, and postings on social media is enough to give anyone the impression that he is as center-left as any bishop of the USCCB. But all things are not equal, and the grace of the office of the papacy has a profound impact on the man at the helm. One plus God is a majority.
I suspect that Cardinal Prevost chose the name “Leo” as an indication of his intention to further the cause of “social justice,” a phrase coined and popularized by Pope Leo XIII. But the changing of a name has a real effect. The fact that he chose the name “Leo” could very well be a signal grace. Leo XIII composed the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel after hearing the devil conversing with Our Lord, asking for time and power to destroy the Church. Pope Leo XIV was elected on the Feast of St Michael’s apparition at Gargano, where St. Michael personally defended the Sipontans and Benevetans against the invading pagan Neapolitans. Furthermore, the 1962 Missal lists May 8 as the Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces, and guess what? Pope Leo XIII wrote in his September 8, 1894 encyclical Octobri Mense:
“The recourse we have to Mary in prayer follows upon the office she continuously fills by the side of the throne of God as Mediatrix of Divine grace.”
For over a century, Our Lady has been pleading with us to pray for the pope! We can expect nothing good from a shepherd who is starved by his sheep. We have an obligation to pray for the pope to have strength and the grace of office to steer the Barque of Peter – within which we are ALL passengers – through the stormy waters of this perilous world. Let us all commit to praying for Pope Leo XIV in our daily Rosaries, beseeching Our Lady of Victory, Mediatrix of all Graces, to give him the strength and courage to right the ship, and lead us as Our Lord wishes.

Your names have been written in Heaven… "It is not by accident that you are called by My Mother, for your names have been written in Heaven.... But with this great grace you have great responsibility to send this Message from Heaven throughout the world, for if you are able to recover just one more for Heaven, an additional star shall be placed in your crown." - Jesus, August 5, 1975
A great obligation to go forward... "It is not by accident that you are called by My Mother, for it is by merit and the prayers that have risen to Heaven for your salvation. For those who have received the grace to hear the Message from Heaven, you have a great obligation to go forward and bring this Message to your brothers and sisters. Do not expect a rest upon your earth, for you will have eternal rest very soon." - Jesus, June 12, 1976
The sin of omission... "The sin of omission shall condemn many to hell, be they layman or Hierarchy. I repeat: not the sin of commission, but the sin of omission will commit many to hell." Our Lady of the Roses, October 6, 1980
