US Bishops Condemn Themselves by Their Inaction...

About a month ago, the world was subjected to the scandal of a major US Catholic churchman announcing that he would be honoring a Catholic politician with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”. This award was not being given to a man who had spent his whole life promoting Catholic values in the government. No. It was being given to a man who has repeatedly supported the murder of the unborn in the womb. He even opposed legislation that would have protected infants who survived abortion.

I thank God for the 10 bishops who did lift their voices to condemn Cupich’s actions. But I’m also frustrated that so many neglected their sacred duty. I was originally under the impression that there were 200 bishops in the US, which would have meant that only 5% stood up to defend the Faith. I was wrong. There are 273 active Catholic bishops in the US. That means that only 3.7% stood up for God’s laws. That number gets even smaller when you add retired bishops. Out of 441 successors of the Apostles living in the US, only 2.3% had the courage to say that a politician who advocated for the killing of the unborn should not be given a Catholic award. This is an incredibly small number.

It’s even more infuriating that the USCCB was silent until Durbin announced he was turning down the award. I read a report (I can’t find it now) that the USCCB was working on a statement weeks after Cupich’s first announcement. This is the same group that is quick to release a statement attacking President Trump anytime he does something to secure the southern border or end lawlessness in this country. They are quick to react when it comes to virtue signaling, but glacially slow or inactive when it comes to defending the One, True Faith.

When they did release a statement, the USCCB was quick to point out that they had no authority over what happened in individual dioceses. They wrote:

“The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is not a governing body, and as such, it has no authority to intervene in matters dealing with decisions made in an individual diocese. The USCCB seeks to facilitate dialogue among its bishop members, while also respecting the right of individual bishops to speak as they deem appropriate.”

This may be true, but that has not stopped this “body” from, as I stated before, commenting on social justice issues at the drop of a hat. The USCCB could have made a statement simply that the Catholic Church has always taught that life begins at conception and any attempt to end the life is a great offense to God. But that would have been too far for many bishops to go.
 

Heaven’s Warnings

There are many, many things that I could say about the US bishops and their failure to lead their flocks, but let’s look at what Our Lady and Our Lord had to say about these men at Bayside.

On November 20, 1975, Our Lord said, “I shall come soon to cleanse My temples, the churches. I shall cast out you who have given yourselves and set upon My Church a stigma of fallen hierarchy. Awaken from your slumber! Recognize the faces of evil about you, My pastors! Shall you please man, or shall you follow the rule of your God? No man shall save you from judgment. No man shall give you your reward. But satan has set on earth men who shall claim you for satan.”

Our Lady made a similar warning on May 15, 1976:

"Bishops, awaken from your slumber! In your permissive behavior, you are sending many souls onto the road to hell! Unless you turn back from these ways that displease the Eternal Father, you too shall carry your miters into Hell.
"Shall My Son return and find even a small flicker of faith left in the hearts of mankind?
"Heresy, O mournful heresy! Abominations and filth, seeping like cesspools, overflowing into My Son’s Church! Corruption! Evil! Diabolical! Cleanse My Son’s Church now, or He shall return and take you in hand! He shall cast you from His Church. A church in darkness wears a band of death about it. The doors will close! But the foundation, My Son, will never be lost to mankind! And you pastors, who have set yourselves to discredit facts of the existence and punishment of hell, shall you receive your lesson the hard way?
“I say now, as your Mother, I plead to you as your Mother in the short time given to you, to restore My Son’s Church!”

Jesus sent another warning to the hierarchy on November 21, 1977:

"Cardinals, bishops, awaken from your slumber! A heavy hand shall be placed upon the world, and you shall not escape punishment for the loss of even a single soul to Heaven!
“Woe, woe, woe to the man who is responsible for the destruction of a young soul! My children, it would be better if that man had not emerged from his mother’s womb, or a millstone had been tied about his neck and cast into the sea, before he committed his foul deeds.”

What Can the Laity Do?

In times like this, it feels like the laity is powerless to correct the errors of the bishops. There must be something that we can do. Thankfully, Heaven has the answer.

On June 18, 1979, Our Lady said, “The laity must now go forward and save My Son’s Church…Pray for your clergy. Obedience has been distorted now to make them servants of those who are not true rulers.”

On October 6, 1976, She said further, “Many priests, bishops, cardinals in My Son’s House need prayers from the laity that they may be strong enough not to fall into the plan of…the one worlders. They seek to destroy My Son’s Church and build one on the creation of man.”

Our most powerful tool is prayer, especially the Mass and the Rosary. The battle will not be easy because, as it says in the Bible, “our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.” Ephesians 6:12

But the Blessed Mother said that our efforts would be rewarded. On June 17, 1989, She stated, “Remember, My child and My children, no matter how rough the road gets, you will stay within your parish church. And by good example and many prayers you will bring the priesthood back into the light.”
