Recently, senior Iranian regime officials and Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee members introduced a bill in the Majlis authorizing the payment of a €50 million reward for the assassination of President Trump and other top U.S. and Israeli officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for their responsibility for the February 28, 2026 killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

It should be noted that this is not the first time a reward has been offered for assassinating President Trump (see MEMRI Special Dispatch No. 12072, Iranian Religious Establishment Declares Jihad Against President Trump For Threat To Khamenei That He Never Made, Calling For His Assassination: 'His Punishment Is Death'; 'His Blood Is Permitted'; This Is 'A Deed Warranting Enormous Reward' That 'Assures Paradise'; 'Every Cell Of The Resistance In the West Is Charged With Carrying Out This Sentence'; Over $42 Million 'Has Been Raised Online For Carrying Out This Assassination,' July 9, 2025.

It is notable that U.S. intelligence officials have identified at least two Iranian attempts to assassinate President Trump.[1]

The following are the main points of Iranian officials' statements about the €50 million reward for assassinating President Trump.

Majlis National Security Committee Member: If Our Enemies Assassinate Our Leaders, We Must Assassinate Theirs – Not Negotiate With Them; To Stop The Assassinations, Iran Should Strike Their Capital Washington 

In a May 10, 2026 interview, Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee member Abolfazl Zohrevand said: "If you assassinate our leaders, we will assassinate yours." Expressing criticism of Iran's negotiating with its enemies after they had killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, he added that this sends a message to the enemies to continue these assassinations. He concluded by saying that this would stop if Iran retaliated by striking Washington, D.C.

Majlis National Security Committee Chairman: €50 Million Reward For Assassinating Trump And Netanyahu

On May 14, 2026, Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, discussed the drafting of a plan titled "A Retaliatory Operation by the Military and Security Forces." He said: "We expect the government to pay a €50 million reward to anyone who carries out this religious mission (assassinating Trump).

"We have drawn up several plans [for this purpose] since the third war [U.S.-Israel vs. Iran, that began on February 28, 2026], including a plan for countermeasures by military and security forces.

"We believe that we must confront and take vengeance on the evil American president, the evil Zionist prime minister, and the CENTCOM commander for the operation that led to the death of our martyred Imam [Leader Khamenei], because this is our right. We see this right as separate from ending the war and from the victories we have achieved in it. In fact, just as the American president ordered the killing of our Imam, every Muslim and every lover of freedom must take care of him [i.e. assassinate him in retaliation].

"This proposed [bill] states that if private individuals and legal entities carry out this religious and faith[-based] mission, the government undertakes to pay them €50 million as a reward."[2]
