Why do Priests and Bishops Lie about Bayside?
“Pastors, do you reject the Message from Heaven because you fear it?
Or do you prefer to ignore it because it will expose your error?
”Pride!
False pride, My children, is the downfall of many. Cast aside this worldly
pride! You have only one to face when you come over the veil: it is the judgment
of the Eternal Father.” - Our Lady, October 6, 1975

Old Testament lessons: God’s prophets and bad priests
History always repeats the same cycle of decline, destruction and rise from the ashes. Dishonorable, weak and evil men rise to power, in governments and in the Church. Families, cities and nations decline and are overthrown by the wicked. Another generation with a renewed fear of God in their hearts brings about a renewal, in their obedience to God and the Commandments. Families, cities and nations are strengthened. But prosperity brings forgetfulness of harder times, love of God and neighbor begins to wane, and the cycle repeats itself.
With the rise and fall of nations, God always sends His prophets to warn His people of the punishment that will come if they continue in their sins: “For the Lord God doth nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7)
“Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot: they have changed my delightful portion into a desolate wilderness.” (Jeremiah 12:10)
Corrupt kings and priests misled the people, so God sent His prophets as a final warning before chastisement. One of these prophets was Jeremiah:
“And I will pronounce my judgments against them, touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have sacrificed to strange gods, and have adored the work of their own hands. Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak to them all that I command thee. Be not afraid at their presence: for I will make thee not to fear their countenance. For behold I have made thee this day a fortified city, and a pillar of iron, and a wall of brass, over all the land, to the kings of Juda, to the princes thereof, and to the priests, and to the people of the land. And they shall fight against thee, and shall not prevail: for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.” (Jeremiah 1:16-19)
Yet Jeremiah was rejected by most of the priests. Phassur, chief priest, beat and imprisoned Jeremiah for prophesying:
“Now Phassur the son of Emmur, the priest, who was appointed chief in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremias prophesying these words. And Phassur struck Jeremias the prophet, and put him in the stocks, that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, in the house of the Lord.” (Jeremiah 20:1-2)
Jeremiah prophesied against Phassur, the king of Judah and the people, and what he predicted came to pass:
“But thou, Phassur, and all that dwell in thy house, shall go into captivity, and thou shalt go to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there thou shalt be buried, thou and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied a lie.” (Jeremiah 20:6)
Would Jesus also call our generation a “generation of vipers”? (Matthew 23:33)
Jesus, our God and King, so often gentle and encouraging, was not that way towards the corrupt leaders and priests. His holy indignation flared many times against them:
“You serpents, generation of vipers, how will you flee from the judgment of hell? Therefore behold I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you will put to death and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: That upon you may come all the just blood that hath been shed upon the earth, from the blood of Abel the just, even unto the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom you killed between the temple and the altar.” (Matthew 23:33-35)
Jesus furthermore called many of the priests of His day liars:
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.” (John 8:44)
“Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God. And you have not known him, but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him, and do keep his word.” (John 8:54-55)
St. Peter, the first Pope appointed by Jesus, recalled the almost universal rejection of God’s prophets:
“Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them who foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers.” (Acts 7:52)
Have we become so evil that our generation would likewise reject God’s true prophets?
Fatima warning about the great apostasy
If we could invent a time machine and bring Catholics from each of the previous twenty centuries and have them view a Catholic Mass today and listen to the sermon, I don’t believe any would believe that this was the Catholic Church. They would probably think we were nuts, had lost our collective minds, and formed a new religion. The modernists today are legion, the heretics and innovators are legion (perhaps even the norm).
Without humility, any error can be believed.
So did God warn us about this mess which is the modern-day Catholic Church? Of course He did: at Fatima, Bayside, Akita, etc.
Cardinal Ottaviani asked Sister Lucy why the Third Secret of Fatima was not to be opened before 1960. She told him, “because then it will seem clearer.” On April 12, 1970, Sister Lucy warned of “a diabolical disorientation invading the world and misleading souls”.
Furthermore, we know from Sister Lucy that the chastisement predicted in the Third Secret had already begun in the 1970s: “We know moreover, that Sister Lucy confided in the 1970s, that”the chastisement predicted by Our Lady in the Third Secret had already begun”.” (Freré Francois de Marie des Anges, Fatima: Tragedy and Triumph, pp. 237-238; Brother Michael of the Holy Trinity, The Whole Truth About Fatima: The Third Secret, Vol. III, p. 640).
Fr. Joaquin Alonso, the official archivist of Fatima (whose 24 volumes on Fatima were suppressed by the Vatican), stated the following:
“In the period preceding the great triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, terrible things are to happen. These form the content of the third part of the Secret. What are they?
“If ‘in Portugal the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved,’ . . . it can be clearly deduced from this that in other parts of the Church these dogmas are going to become obscure or even lost altogether.” (Fr. Joaquin Alonso, La Verdad sobre el Secreto de Fatima, p. 80)
“Thus it is quite possible that in this intermediate period which is in question (after 1960 and before the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary), the text makes concrete references to the crisis of the Faith of the Church and to the negligence of the pastors themselves.” (Ibid., p. 80)
We also have the words of Sister Lucia’s nephew, Fr. José Valinho, on the Third Secret of Fatima:
“I believe that [Third] part of the Secret concerns the Church from within, perhaps doctrinal difficulties, a crisis of unity, rebellion. The last sentence my aunt wrote, which precedes the part that is still unknown, says, In Portugal, the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved. Therefore, people elsewhere in the Church might waver on dogma.”
- Father José Pereira dos Santos Valinho, SDB (nephew of Sr. Lucia); Reportage su Fatima by Renzo and Roberto Allegri, Milan 2000
“I believe that there is a connection between that which is announced in the first part of the Secret, which concerns wars and sufferings which would be everywhere, and the second part which concerns the persecutions and a type of breakdown of the Faith. Because where the ellipsis (the three dots,”…“) was placed, it means”Here is the third part, which is not revealed” and then the conclusion “In Portugal the dogma of the faith will always be preserved etc.” This suggests to me that there is a relationship between faith and the third part of the Secret. Therefore, it is something that relates to the Church. It is some kind of universal crisis which affects the whole Church and all of humanity.”
Father José Pereira dos Santos Valinho, SDB (nephew of Sr. Lucia); This public statement was made on 14 February 2003, broadcast on the program ENIGMA, which was transmitted prime time, nationwide on RAI, the National TV Network of Italy, The Fatima Crusader, Issue 74, p. 76.

Third Secret and Vatican II
How was the year 1960 related to the Third Secret? Pope John XXIII, in January of 1960, announced that Vatican II would be convened (1962-1965). Cardinal Oddi stated that he would not be surprised if Vatican II and its aftermath were part of the topic of the real Third Secret of Fatima:
“What happened in 1960 that might have been seen in connection with the Secret of Fatima? The most important event is without a doubt the launching of the preparatory phase of the Second Vatican Council. Therefore I would not be surprised if the Secret had something to do with the convocation of Vatican II” (Read more)
The results of Vatican II, in hindsight, were not what the Popes and bishops envisioned. In the words of Pope Benedict (interviewed by Vittorio Messori in The Ratzinger Report):
“Results since the (Vatican II) Council, seem to be in cruel contrast to the expectations of all, beginning with those of John XXIII and Paul VI. … The Popes and the Council Fathers were expecting a new Catholic unity, and instead one has encountered a dissension that–to use the words of Paul VI–seems to have gone from self-criticism to self-destruction.”
At Vatican II, Cardinal Ottaviani (who was one of the few cardinals to have read the Third Secret with Pope John XXIII) asked all the bishops and cardinals at Vatican II: “Are these Fathers planning a revolution?”
Did Cardinal Ottaviani ask that question, based on the contents of the real Third Secret of Fatima?
Cardinal Alphons Stickler was very clear that the post-Vatican II changes to the Mass did not correspond to the wishes of the Council Fathers:
“You can understand my astonishment when I found that the final edition of the new Roman Missal did not correspond to the Conciliar texts that I knew so well, and that it contained much that broadened, changed or even was directly contrary to the Council’s provisions.” (Read more)
Chief exorcist of Rome, Father Gabriele Amorth, stated that Padre Pio knew the Third Secret. In a conversation with Padre Pio in the early 1960s, Padre Pio told him of the contents of the Third Secret of Fatima:
“It is Satan who has been introduced into the bosom of the Church and within a very short time will come to rule a false Church.” (José María Zavala, The Best Kept Secret of Fatima (El Secreto Mejor Guardado de Fatima). (Read more)
Cardinal Oddi, when asked about the Third Secret of Fatima, stated:
“What happened in 1960 that might have been seen in connection with the Secret of Fatima? The most important event is without a doubt the launching of the preparatory phase of the Second Vatican Council. Therefore I would not be surprised if the Secret had something to do with the convocation of Vatican II.” (Read more)
Archbishop Vigano warns that the Catholic Church is undergoing a very serious crisis, and its apostasy is easily visible:
“The origins of this crisis and this apostasy are now apparent even to the most moderate. They lay in having wanted to align the Church with the mentality of the world, whose prince, let us not forget, is Satan: princeps mundi hujus (Jn 12:31).” (Read more)
Pope Benedict (Cardinal Ratzinger) on the Third Secret: Only months after Bishop Ito approved the Akita apparitions, Cardinal Ratzinger was interviewed on November 11, 1984 by Jesus magazine, a publication of the Pauline Sisters. Within this 1984 interview (titled “Here is Why the Faith is in Crisis”), published to millions in Italy, Cardinal Ratzinger acknowledged that he had read the REAL Third Secret and that it speaks of “The dangers threatening the faith and the life of the Christian, and therefore the world, and also the importance of the last times.” Cardinal Ratzinger said that the Third Secret had been suppressed since 1960 “to avoid confusing religious prophecy with sensationalism.” He also said, “But the things contained in this Third Secret correspond to what is announced in Scripture and are confirmed by many other Marian apparitions….” Howard Dee, former Philippine ambassador to the Vatican, stated that “Cardinal Ratzinger personally confirmed to me that these two messages, of Fatima and Akita, are essentially the same.” (Inside the Vatican magazine, 1998)
It is important to note that the second edition and following editions scrubbed these words from The Ratzinger Report. Was the Vatican censoring their cardinals in relation to the Fatima message?
God had commanded that the Third Secret of Fatima be released no later than 1960 (Read more). This did not happen. As a result, the entire world is suffering from the collective disobedience of the Catholic hierarchy.
To add insult to injury, the document released in 2000 by the Vatican, supposedly the Third Secret, did not match Sister Lucy’s handwriting (Read more), nor did the document even match Sister Lucy’s handwriting on the Third Secret envelopes (Read more). A forensic handwriting expert examined Sister Lucy’s handwriting sample, and did not believe that the document released in 2000 was Sister Lucy’s handwriting (Read more). In fact, the Italian police were called to the papal apartment in 1969 while Pope Paul VI was away, due to a reported robbery. Pope Paul VI’s safe which kept the real Third Secret, was reportedly broken into (Read more). The document that the Vatican released had no relevancy to 1960, when Our Lady commanded the Third Secret of Fatima to be revealed to the entire world. Our Lady at Bayside exposed what the real Third Secret of Fatima is about, satanic infiltration at the highest realms of the Catholic Church (Read more).
Pride, which willingly usurps the rights of God, “is the gravest of sins, says St. Thomas, because it is the refusal to submit to God’s sovereign will.” (Fr. Adolfe Tanquerey, S.J., The Spiritual Life: A Treatise on Ascetical and Mystical Theology, #832, p. 399)
The truth is, the Catholic hierarchy has deliberately defied the command of God given at Fatima. They seem to act as if they have no accountability. Have they no fear of God, who is infinitely holy and just?
The bishops have already defied Fatima, so let’s now move on to Bayside.
Church investigation of Bayside, or a coverup?
The U.S. hierarchy is guilty of fraud and a conspiracy of lies against Bayside. How are the U.S. bishops committing fraud? The Webster Dictionary defines fraud as “the intentional perversion of truth to deceive or cheat another person or entity.”
I accuse the Catholic hierarchy in the United States of a conspiracy to commit fraud, regarding the Bayside apparitions. This is not something I say lightly. I say this as a witness who has worked 40+ years in spreading the Bayside messages, I say this as a witness who worked at the Shrine office for years and who worked for Veronica Lueken the seer of Bayside, who witnessed firsthand many miracles and read hundreds of miraculous testimonies from throughout the world–miracles that the Brooklyn diocese and numerous bishops and priests falsely deny even exist.
I was a year out of high school when I first heard about Bayside. The first thing I heard about “Bayside” was that the apparitions were condemned by the local bishop in Brooklyn. What was Bayside? I didn’t even know at that point. So I investigated. It took me only about 6 months to be morally certain that the Bayside apparitions were authentic and of divine origin.
One of the priests I talked to about the Bayside apparitions was Fr. Matthew Peraino, who insisted there was no canonical investigation of Bayside. He believed in the Bayside messages and went to New York to investigate for himself. I asked Fr. Matthew why he believed in Bayside. He replied, “I did my homework.” Other priests in his religious community, the Oblates of St. Joseph, also believed in Bayside.
In my investigation, two things stood out for me: (1) the vitrolic hatred of Bayside by so many priests and lay people. They hated Bayside more than abortion, homosexuality, heresy and other truly abominable things. Why was this? (2) Most Catholics (priests and laity) refused to look at evidence of miracles, prophecies fulfilled, conversions, and even refused to talk with priests who did believe in Bayside. It seemed to me that the great majority of Catholics didn’t want to know the truth about Bayside, they refused to look, unwilling to change. I invited skeptics to talk to Bayside-believing priests. The skeptics always rejected the invitation. Why was this? Were they afraid of the truth? If they were truly confident in their belief, why couldn’t they enter into a legitimate debate about Bayside? These two themes have repeated over and over in my 40+ years of spreading the Bayside message.
“And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying. That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity.” (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11)
Was this the real reason why so many people would not look into Bayside, because they had “consented to iniquity”?
So we come to the question of why so many priests and bishops in the United States are against Bayside. In my experience, these priests and bishops are committing a fraud against the Catholic faithful. They had decided beforehand they didn’t want Bayside to be true, so they falsely declared it to be so. They are living in a false reality; they are living a lie. And these dishonorable priests and bishops have imposed their false beliefs upon the many naive Catholic faithful, who trust their priests to tell them the truth.
It is so easy for dishonorable men to avoid responsibility and accountability, in the short term. As the approved apparitions of Akita, Japan have warned us:
“The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see Cardinals opposing Cardinals, Bishops against other Bishops. The priests who venerate Me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres. Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be filled with those who accept compromises, and the devil will induce many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.”
Fraud: Dodging the seer and witnesses–not interviewing Veronica Lueken and the many Bayside apparition witnesses
The most common propaganda I have heard over the decades concerning Bayside is that the Brooklyn diocese investigated Veronica, and found nothing supernatural about it.
Did they really investigate Veronica? Is that the truth?
It is not.
It has been public knowledge for quite some time that the Brooklyn diocese did not even interview Veronica or her closest workers and promoters of the Bayside apparitions, who were also witnesses to the numerous cures, conversions and other miracles. Why evade the principle sources of evidence surrounding an apparition, unless a pre-meditated conclusion and fraud is the intended outcome?
Fr. Michael M. Burke, priest in the city of Corpus Christi, Texas, on January 23, 1988 wrote, “Actually I challenge that statement of the Brooklyn Chancery Office because a properly conducted investigation has never taken place. To verify this, let Fr. Dietzen try to get a transcript of the so-called investigation to discover why the statements of Mrs. Lueken should be condemned.”
A priest from India, Fr. Bernard Nunes, O.C.D. wrote:
“Firstly, is it possible to have an official inquiry conducted into a reported apparition and arrive at a conclusion without a close and careful interrogation of the seer of the apparitions? In the matter of inquiry into a private revelation or apparition, we are aware–as remarked in the Foreward–how much weight of the investigation the Church throws on the interrogation of the seer, even before scrutinising the reported messages or the evidence of miracles. Strange as it may seem, this basic factor has been brushed aside with regard to the Bayside Apparitions. From Veronica’s own affirmation we have it, that not once was she ever summoned for interrogation by the investigating Committee; and for that matter in the five years since the beginning of the apparitions, never was she summoned for cross-questioning either by the clergy of the parish or by her bishop, though, on her part, she has never failed to make the approach. With such a basic flaw in the official inquiry, does the conclusion of the so-called investigation not leave one groggy with disbelief?“
Of course, we don’t just have Veronica’s word on this. Msgr. James King, who was responsible for the “investigation” of Bayside, admitted in a TV interview that he didn’t talk to Veronica until after the so-called investigation. At 7:30 p.m. on the evening of November 7, 1984, Boston channel 5 aired a documentary on Bayside on the TV program, “The Chronicle”. Msgr. King admitted that he did not talk to Veronica until after the “investigation” on this TV show.
The secular press obtained this admission that the so-called investigation was a fraud. And the Catholic press? It seems they were in hired-hand mode, afraid to examine the Bayside apparitions for fear of consequences. The Catholic faithful throughout the world have suffered much because of the failure of Catholic clergy and laity to investigate and proclaim the truth about Bayside.
Again, the secular press obtained another key admission from Msgr. King about Veronica: “She’s a good devout person, I would say nothing about her character at all.” (May 13, 1975, New York channel 11 news)
In May of 1975, Msgr. King admitted to Veronica’s personal secretary, Mrs. Ann Ferguson: “When Veronica takes her prayer group away from St. Robert Bellarmine’s church and transfers the group to the park, then Veronica will have a proper investigation!” (Msgr. King to Ann Ferguson, court proceedings, May 1975)
But no promised investigation took place then either, when the Bayside vigils continued in Flushing Meadows Park.
Veronica was at the vigils and holy hours at St. Robert’s church in Bayside week after week, month after month, yet by Msgr. King’s own admission years later, Veronica was never questioned once during the investigation. Msgr. King said, “We didn’t want to upset an ordinary good woman.” (Msgr. James King, “The Chronicle,” November 7, 1984, Boston channel 5)
Is the Brooklyn clergy acting like servants of Christ here, or criminal thugs?
Veronica tried to meet with Bishop Mugavero of Brooklyn
We have additional evidence of a Brooklyn diocese coverup from Ann Ferguson, Veronica’s personal secretary. In a TLDM radio interview on December 1, 1991, Ann Ferguson recounts Veronica’s attempt to meet with Bishop Mugavero in 1974:
Ann Ferguson - “Now my next item here, I wish to make a correction. This past week, there was a program on channel 4 television about”Visions.” A small segment of the Bayside apparitions was shown. On the program, Msgr. Garcia from the Chancery office made a false statement. He said Veronica was a recluse, and not available for questioning. This is not true! I’ve been privileged to be Veronica’s secretary since 1973. Now, it was in 1974, Veronica phoned Msgr. King, who was the chancellor of the Brooklyn and Queens Diocese, and requested him to arrange an appointment for Veronica to speak to Bishop Mugavero. (I might state here that Bishop Mugavero died last year. Lord have mercy on his soul. [correction: Bishop Mugavero died July 12, 1991, on Veronica’s birthday]).
“Now the meeting was arranged, and Veronica and her husband, Arthur, went to the Chancery office located on Greene Avenue in Brooklyn, which is about one hour ride from Bayside. When they arrived there, on the appointed day, and appointed hour, they were greeted by Msgr. King, who informed them that Bishop Mugavero was unable to see them. They spoke to Msgr. King for about 15 minutes. He arranged for another time to meet the Bishop. Veronica did not go the second time, but sent her husband Arthur, and a Bayside pilgrim by the name of Nick Sevalen, to see the Bishop. When they arrived at the Chancery office, Msgr. King again informed them the Bishop was unable to see them.
“Now you know we never heard about Msgr. Garcia in 1974. It is only in the past few years that we were told that Msgr. Garcia is now at the Chancery office. Now Veronica said, she would like to speak to the present Bishop of Brooklyn, Bishop Thomas Daily.”
The “investigation” failed to meet the basic requirements of objectivity and truth from the very beginning. The number one criterion for an investigation according to Msgr. King’s predecessor, Msgr. Bevilacqua, “First, you start with the person herself or himself. You have the credibility of the person, so you question the person.” (Msgr. Anthony J. Bevilacqua, Our Sunday Visitor, August 8, 1982)
Common sense would tell anyone that you need objective evidence for any legitimate, truthful investigation. The Church leaders know this. There are very clear guidelines the Catholic Church provides to investigate apparitions:
“The right course to adopt, when judging of revelations or visions, can be summed up in the three following steps which I am about to examine separately: 1) To obtain detailed information regarding the person who thinks himself thus favored. 2) And also as to the actual facts of the revelation; 3) These data once obtained to draw the conclusions that they admit of.” (Rev. Augustin Poulain, S.J., The Graces of Interior Prayer, Chapter XXII: “Revelations-How to judge of them”, p. 350)
So many miracles
The amount of miracles at Bayside is staggering. There are enough miracles there to canonize 1,000 saints. I have witnessed miraculous photos develop before my eyes from Polaroid Instamatics, and Polaroid admits the camera is “tamper proof”. Thousands of other witnesses have seen the same thing. I have seen miraculous photo albums from Bayside pilgrims and some even have multiple albums filled with miraculous photos (perhaps in the hundreds). I would estimate, by what I have personally witnessed over the decades, that the miraculous photos taken at Bayside could number over 100,000.
Even the Brooklyn clergy admits to the sheer number of reported miracles at Bayside (while in the past saying there was nothing supernatural about the Bayside apparitions).
We have reports of doctors and nurses using the word “miracle” after their patients were cured of various ailments at Bayside (in response to prayers to Our Lady of the Roses). There was no natural medical explanation for these cures. (Read more)
Msgr. Otto Garcia, former Chancellor for the Diocese of Brooklyn, has stated: “If the amount of cures that are claimed were true, Lourdes and Fatima are nothing, compared to Bayside.” (Current Affair: TV show)
Although there is not enough time to even scratch the surface of the numerous cures, conversions and miracles at Bayside, I wanted to add some of my notes to the collection, lest perhaps they get lost to history.
Ted Cach, the man who for many years held the microphone up to Veronica as she repeated the message of Heaven stated, “Never have I seen her blink during my 18 years of watching her in ecstasy.” This is beyond all natural explanation, as blinking is an involuntary reflex.
I can add another witness to this reported phenomenon, Ronald Escalante, who was the Shrine photographer for many years. He personally told me that he witnessed a snowflake falling into Veronica’s eye during ecstasy, and she did not blink!
Cardinal Medeiros: Bayside messages “free of error”
In 1979, Cardinal Medeiros of Boston and his secretary Fr. Oliveira received a book and audio tapes for review containing Our Lady of the Roses message. In an April 24, 1990 taped interview with the woman who passed Our Lady’s message on to the Cardinal and Fr. Oliveira, she repeated what she had been told: “Fr. Oliveira said to me,”I did not know exactly how to advise you on this matter. I told you before the Church acts very prudent, and rightfully so on these types of events. And after reading the book and listening to the messages on tape, I could not find any heresy in them.” Then to my surprise he said, “I gave the Blue Book and these tapes of the messages to Cardinal Medeiros to read and listen.”” Fr. Oliveira told me, he told the Cardinal, that he could not find any heresy, and he replied, nor could he. And that on all matters of the Catholic Faith discussed in the book, and also given on the taped messages, they were free from error.
Cardinal Bevilacqua, as a Monsignor and chancellor for the diocese of Brooklyn stated, “She’s [Veronica] not saying anything directly contrary to the faith. . . .” (Boston Herald American, December 27, 1978)
In 1982, Cardinal Bevilacqua stated, “If that [Bayside] is authentic, we’re in two different churches.” (Our Sunday Visitor, August 8, 1982)
Other clergy have acknowledged there is nothing contrary to the Catholic faith in the Bayside messages. Msgr. Guillermo Flores y Flores, from Guatemala, wrote:
“I went as a believer because for me it is sweet to believe in the mysteries of God; and I feel that Our Lady of the Roses’ Apparitions at Bayside are one of those mysteries of God, mysteries above all, of love. I have nothing to gain by doubting the communal prayer that one lives at Bayside nor the messages which don’t have anything against the Holy Gospel; on the contrary, to me they sound like the echo of what the Prophets preached, and of Jesus’ own words: convert, return to the way of the Gospel, do penance, pray constantly.” (Msgr. Guillermo Flores y Flores, Guatemala, July 12, 1990)
Msgr. Diviney, Vicar General of the Brookyn diocese, stated to the New York Times, “If it is a genuine manifestation from God, the truth will come out.” (New York Times, December 2, 1973)
Fr. Robert Skurla, formerly the International Chaplain of the Blue Army, stated on April 4, 1982: “The messages of Bayside restored my confidence in the Catholic Church once more. I will stake my reputation, if that means anything, on the doctrine contained in the messages. The doctrine is the same as I was trained in over the years.” (Read more)
The Catholic clergy, unwilling to confront the truth of the Bayside messages, have resorted to lies and calumny. If you can’t kill the message, kill the messenger. Such calumny and outright lies have served as an effective means of deflection away from the Catholic clergy’s own corruption and heresy. “They are projecting for their own deficiencies” sounds just about right.
Our Lady explains the clergy’s rejection of Bayside perfectly:
“Pastors, do you reject the Message from Heaven because you fear it? Or do you prefer to ignore it because it will expose your error?
”Pride! False pride, My children, is the downfall of many. Cast aside this worldly pride! You have only one to face when you come over the veil: it is the judgment of the Eternal Father.” (Our Lady, October 6, 1975)Fraud: Not investigating the numerous miracles, but denying they even exist
The Brooklyn diocese has uttered so many lies about Bayside it is hard to keep count. And they continue to gaslight the Catholic faithful to this very day.
One of the biggest ongoing lies and cover-ups by the Brooklyn diocese is the claim that there is nothing supernatural going on, no miracles.
That is absolutely absurd.
The Brooklyn diocese seems to be schizophrenic, with statements like this one by the former chancellor of the diocese:
“If the amount of cures that are claimed were true, Lourdes and Fatima are nothing, compared to Bayside.” (Msgr. Otto Garcia, former Chancellor for the Diocese of Brooklyn, “Current Affair” TV show)
We have to point out that the bishop and priests of Brooklyn are not medical doctors, so they are not competent to say when a cure is beyond the realms of medical science. This is the competency of medical doctors. And we have plenty of statements by medical doctors to this effect (Read more).
In addition, we have the cure of ovarian cancer, documented by Dr. Odilia Leivia Bejórquez from Guatemala (Read more).
We have the cure of Wanda Dunbar from brain cancer (Read more).
We have the cure of Jack Irey from cancer (Read more).
We have the cure of Joan MacIntyre from cirrohosis of the liver.
We have the cure of Margie van Aken of spina bifida (Read more).
We have the cure of Hollywood star Susan Hayward of cancer (and predicted recurrence if she didn’t acknowledge the source of the cure, which was Bayside):
https://www.tldm.org/photos/susanhayward.htm
We have a recovery case from methyl alcohol poisoning, documented in the American Medical Journal as a medical miracle. “Artie” should have died or at least been permanently blinded, but neither occurred (Read more).
These cures just scratch the surface. The reported cures are in the thousands.
And that doesn’t include the miraculous photos, which number perhaps in the hundreds of thousands received by Baysiders throughout the world (Read more).
Fr. Bernard Nunes of India explained the roles of supernatural miracles as a sign ordained by God in the order of nature:
“The salutary impact the Bayside Messages are having on those who have been perusing them with an open mind and sincere heart; the beneficial effects the night vigils of prayer are producing in the hearts of those who participate in them with devotion and in a spirit of penance; the cures of soul and of body effected at the apparition site or through the sacramentals blessed there by Heaven; the miraculous pictures shot by cameras that were blessed by Our Lady to purify and guard them against satan all these, and each of them, are Heaven’s signs and evidence of miracles, witnessing to the truth of the Bayside apparitions and messages. This witness is superior to that of men and their objections and claims, for the divine intervention can with difficulty be doubted or misinterpreted without violating the rules of human testimony. A true miracle, in the Christian sense, is not a barren marvel or a meaningless magical display. It is a sign or an exception that is ordained by God in the order of nature to turn men’s eyes toward their salvation: It is a marvel or a mystery which defies all human explanations, and for which science has no answer. The investigators must make a sincere attempt to dispel the mystery; yet they will have to bow and salute it, if the facts compel them.” (Read more)
Saints speaking the truth to Church power (when Popes and bishops were wrong)
A short history lesson will be helpful:
St. Bernadette: The local bishop of Lourdes initially laughed at the apparitions and St. Bernadette.
St. Joan of Arc: When St. Joan of Arc was being tried by her local bishop, she warned him: “You say that you are my judge; think well what you are about; for of a truth I am sent of God, and you are putting yourself in great danger.” (Jules Michelet, The Life of St. Joan of Arc) Eventually the mob got hold of St. Joan of Arc and burned her at the stake. The bishop was within earshot of St. Joan as she was dying, and some of her last words were: “Bishop, I die through you.”
St. John Vianney and La Salette: St. John Vianney misinterpreted seer Maximin’s words and came to a wrong conclusion:
“When the curé asked him whether he had seen the Blessed Virgin, as reported, Maximin replied that he had seen a beautiful lady, but whether or not it was the Blessed Virgin he did not know. It appears that the curé, already having had to listen to Father Raymond’s diatribe, misconstrued this answer. What Maximin had said was, in fact, exquisitely right: he had, indeed, seen a beautiful lady, but it was necessary to await a doctrinal decision of the Bishop of Grenoble before one could properly assert that the lady was the Blessed Virgin. But the curé interpreted his words as a denial that he had seen anyone at all, as an admission that there was no apparition. The curé wanted to know whether the boy had told lies in the past. Yes, was Maximin’s answer, he had occasionally lied to Father Melin, his pastor in Corps. This, too, was a truthful reply which cast no shadow on the apparition, for Maximin referred to lies which he had told Father Melin when, as he put it,”I did not wish to tell him where I was going, or when I did not want to learn my lessons.” But the curé concluded that La Salette was a fraud, and this caused him bitter suffering.” (Light on the Mountain: the Story of La Salette, John S. Kennedy, pp. 125-126)
St. Catherine of Siena (Doctor of the Church): St. Catherine of Siena was famous for fearlessly speaking truth to Church power. She told Pope Gregory XI to return to Rome (the papacy was temporarily residing in Avignon, France), and blasted the corrupt cardinals of her day who supported an antipope:
“What made you do this? The poison of self-love, which has infected the world. That is what has made you pillars lighter than straw. Flowers you who shed no perfume, but stench that makes the whole world reek! No lights you placed in a candlestick, that you might spread the faith; but, having hidden your light under the bushel of pride, and become not extenders, but contaminators of the faith, you shed darkness over yourselves and others. You should have been angels on earth, placed to release us from the devils of hell, and performing the office of angels, by bringing back the sheep into the obedience of Holy Church, and you have taken the office of devils. That evil which you have in yourselves you wish to infect us with, withdrawing us from obedience to Christ on earth, and leading us into obedience to antichrist, a member of the devil, as you are too, so long as you shall abide in this heresy.” (Read more)
The Catholic faithful should be under no illusion. Priests, bishops, and cardinals are not infallible nor are they immune from corruption and evil.
“These hearts of Our pastors have been hardened. Their ears are clogged, My child; they do not listen. Their eyes are blinded, not seeing the miracles We send to open them.
”Pastors, do you reject the Message from Heaven because you fear it? Or do you prefer to ignore it because it will expose your error?” (Our Lady, October 6, 1975)Fraud: Brooklyn diocese denying and ignoring the numerous Bayside prophecies and revelations that have come true
Numerous Bayside prophecies have been fulfilled, and numerous revelations at Bayside have been confirmed as true. Let’s cover just a few:
Prophecy of the imposition of Communion in the hand in the United States: “The next abomination to My Son’s heart–do not accept His Body in your hands, for some will seek to cast His Body in the holy water fountains, My child. For such is the work of satan, to degrade My Son’s Body!” - Our Lady, February 11, 1975

Plot to elect Cardinal Benelli as Pope at the October 1978 conclave (after the murder of Pope John Paul I): Our Lady warned that many prayers were needed to stop this. This prophecy was fulfilled. In the first through seventh ballots of the conclave, Cardinal Benelli had the most votes. In the seventh ballot Cardinal Benelli was only five votes short of becoming the new Pope. But on the eighth ballot, Cardinal Wojtyla took the lead. On the ninth and final ballot he became the new Pope, John Paul II (Read more).
Plot to murder Pope John Paul II in Rome: Bayside prophecy fulfilled, September 28, 1979: “A direct attack from Lucifer will be attempted against your Vicar [Pope John Paul II]. If they are not successful in carrying forth their plan in the United States, it will be in Rome.” (Read more)

Furthermore, Our Lady has warned that the Great War (WW3) will also coincide with a war of religion:
“You will find the world engrossed in not only a worldly war of the flesh, but one of the spirit–a war of religion.” - Our Lady, September 7, 1974
“The battle, My child, will accelerate very shortly for there will not only be a great war of weapons of mankind, but it will be known soon throughout the world as a religious war.” - Our Lady, August 21, 1974
Investigate for yourself
Let’s make a distinction: I have sympathy and sadness for all the good priests, bishops and laity who have been innocently misled on Bayside, and have innocently spread false information about Bayside. Yet someone can be sincere, but at the same time be sincerely wrong.
If you are condemning the Bayside apparitions yet have no evidence, no facts, have little to no knowledge of the message, of the seer (Veronica Lueken), of the miracles, of the miraculous phenomena, of the conversions directly associated with the apparition site and don’t recognize that the Bayside messages align with Catholic teaching of 20 centuries (and not with the modernism and changes that have disfigured the Catholic Church since Vatican II), you are certainly making a rash judgment. Just because a priest or bishop says something, does not make it true. To spread false information is objectively a sin, so you are not off the hook if you have deliberately refused to review evidence that opposes your false views on Bayside.
You can’t throw off your personal responsibility as a Catholic, and blindly acccept everything your hear from priests and bishops. You can’t say the Bayside messages do not concern you when Jesus Himself says:
“It is your duty as a Catholic, a Roman Catholic, to spread the Message of God and save some of these poor souls, for each one is a blossom upon the rosebush, and we cannot let them be trampled on. Love your neighbors as you would love your children, your family. Love them also as part of your family of Christian souls upon earth.” (Jesus, June 18, 1984)
Jesus and Our Lady’s words are punctuated by unprecedented miracles, cures and conversions as a undeniable proof of the divine origin of the Bayside apparitions.
A “thorough” investigation?
Context is very important, so let’s examine the Brooklyn diocese’s claims of a “thorough” investigation of Veronica Lueken and the Bayside messages.
One of the first statements against Bayside claiming a “complete investigation” came from Msgr. James King on October 30, 1973.
We now go up the chain of command, to the Brooklyn diocese. In a letter rebutting journalist Ann Cillis (who penned an expose of the diocese’s non-investigation of Veronica), the diocese misspelled Veronica’s last name.
And then on November 30, 1990, chancellor of the Brooklyn diocese, Msgr. Otto Garcia, likewise misspelled Veronica’s last name in a letter to Mary M.
It makes the angels weep…
The more the Brooklyn diocese protests and tries to defend its “investigation” of Veronica Lueken and the Bayside apparitions, the more nuggets of truth are unearthed in God’s providence. Take for example the diocese’s response to Ann Cillis’ defense of Bayside. I’d like to focus on four points that clearly indicated deceit by the diocese:
1) Brooklyn diocese: “Since she [Veronica] was so inaccessible, the committee had to do its work without her.”
Commentary: The investigation committee, led by the pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine church Msgr. McDonald, had Veronica’s address and telephone number. Also, Veronica was a daily holy communicant at Mass. The pastor could easily have made contact with her, on just about any day that he wanted. Lie/distortion #1.
2) Brooklyn diocese: “Monsignor King admits that the committee did not examine any of Veronica’s close workers. He did not know who they were and did not see any reason for examining them.”
Commentary: How about asking Veronica the names of her close workers? Is that too difficult? But Msgr. King did know her close workers, as they were frequently sharing messages/miraculous photos/miraculous cure and conversion developments with Msgr. King. “Did not see any reason for examining them [close workers]”: Why is this? Would it be because these workers would not support the false narrative being woven by the diocese? Would it be because documented miracles were the last thing the diocese wanted at this point, when they were ready to sweep the truth of Bayside under the rug? Lie/distortion #2.
3) Brooklyn diocese: “Monsignor King admitted they never investigated any of the cures simply because they were never told of any cures. They heard reports of cures but never found any.”
Commentary: Did you catch that inconsistency from sentence 1 to sentence 2? “Never told of any cures” to “they heard reports of cures”. Is this schizophrenic, or what? There were plenty of reported cures by 1973, one being the cure of a cripple who left his crutches with Veronica as a testimony. Plus, there were numerous miraculous conversions and phenomenon as well, such as reported conversions to the Catholic faith as early as 1971. Another miraculous event: Some pilgrims got lost trying to find St. Robert’s church (the Bayside Shrine grounds), and Our Lady appeared to them to give directions! So was the Brooklyn diocese intentionally failing to document these cures, so they could feign ignorance, feign they couldn’t find any miracles (because they didn’t want to look)? Did the Brooklyn diocese deliberately sabotage the investigation, as a plausible deniability fraud? Lie/distortion #3.
4) Brooklyn diocese: “Monsignor King denies the allegation. He state that the committee did not solicit the testimony of anybody.”
Commentary: Ann Cillis alleged that the diocese did not interrogate Veronica or any of her supporters, but only angry neighbors, bothered by the prayer vigils. So the Brooklyn diocese clarified that error. They didn’t solicit testimony of anybody. Clear, crisp truth. The “investigation” was all a fraud, from beginning to end. Evidence was not sought because they didn’t want to arrive at the truth; the Brooklyn diocese wanted Veronica and the Bayside apparitions to go away. So they committed a fraud, gaslighted and threatened the Catholic laity to blindly obey them, and called the Bayside followers the disobedient ones. Lie/distortion #4.
The ruling bishop of the Brooklyn diocese during this time was Bishop Francis Mugavero. This is one of the bishops whose leadership would inflict the “scandal of the millenium” upon the Catholic Church a few decades later, the sex-abuse crisis. Same coverup of crimes, same orchestrated deceit, same minimal accountability, same scandalous behavior disfiguring the holy Catholic Church because of corrupt, sinful leaders, disfiguring the Church through sin at the highest places.
Thanks be to God! Bishops from Africa do believe in Bayside
The situation in the Catholic Church today is so bad it is difficult to truly comprehend. The Church was thriving in the 1950s, but that is a world many people are not old enough to remember.
The Bayside apparitions have been greatly resisted by the Catholic clergy in the United States. Only a few priests have stood their ground and proclaimed the apparitions are true. One such courageous priest was Fr. Michael Burke:
https://gab.com/OurLadyOfTheRoses_America/posts/107299821882017486
Only one bishop in the United States wrote to Veronica Lueken and admitted he knew Bayside was true, but sadly he asked that his name not be revealed. That is how great the persecution is for those who believe the Bayside apparitions.
But in Africa, there are a few courageous bishops that have publicly proclaimed that Bayside is true. So sad, that we have to go outside of the United States to find any bishop with enough courage to do this:ssssssss
Fr. Robert Skurla, once the International Chaplain of the Blue Army, gave a sermon about Bayside in the Scranton, PA cathedral in which he stated, “The messages of Bayside restored my confidence in the Catholic Church once more. I will stake my reputation, if that means anything, on the doctrine contained in the messages. The doctrine is the same as I was trained in over the years.”
https://www.tldm.org/news/skurla.htm
Over the years, a few of the U.S. clergy have made some big admissions about Bayside:
https://www.tldm.org/news8/ourladyoftheroses&clergy.htm
Pope John Paul II also knew about Bayside and was reading the messages. Vincent McDonnell gave Pope John Paul II some of the Bayside messages, but we were warned by Our Lady that Cardinal Casaroli was discouraging the Pope from reading the Bayside messages:
“And now, My child, I must ask that you write, that you all write to Cardinal Casaroli, who is influencing the Holy Father to not listen to this message. His influence shall bring great penance to his soul if he does not come from his course of appeasement, which shall lead to enslavement for many.” (Our Lady, June 18, 1987)
In fact, both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI were aware of the Bayside apparitions.
There are so many miracles at Bayside it is amazing, probably enough miracles to canonize 1,000 saints. God continues to work miracles there as an undeniable sign that the apparitions are true, but most people don’t want to know the truth, most don’t want to change, so much do they love their sin.

"I hear words of mockery and derision; I hear words of My children who do not wish to accept the Message from Heaven. And why? Because they have hardened their hearts and closed their ears. And why? Because they love their sin! Many will sell their souls to get to the head. And what does it gain you, for one day you must come across the veil and be judged." - Our Lady, May 26, 1976
"I tell you now, My child, because the road has been filled with thorns, that Heaven, all Heaven is greatly of heart for you and those who came with you from Heaven's direction to build up an apostleship that shall be forever written in the annals of the Church. This surprises you, My child; I understand you are quite shocked, but pleasantly so, I hope." - Our Lady, May 28, 1983
"The message entrusted to you, My child, must go out to the world
in great haste. The time is growing shorter.
"Many of Our children
have chosen to reject My words. Many tears shall be shed in recognition, but
too late, My child, too late, My children."

Third Secret and Vatican II
Did Cardinal Ottaviani ask
that question, based on the contents of the real Third Secret of
Fatima?
Chief
exorcist of Rome, Father Gabriele Amorth, stated that Padre Pio knew the
Third Secret. In a conversation with Padre Pio in the early 1960s, Padre
Pio told him of the contents of the Third Secret of Fatima:
Pope Benedict (Cardinal
Ratzinger) on the Third Secret: Only months after Bishop Ito
approved the Akita apparitions, Cardinal Ratzinger was interviewed on
November 11, 1984 by Jesus magazine, a publication of the
Pauline Sisters. Within this 1984 interview (titled “Here is Why the
Faith is in Crisis”), published to millions in Italy, Cardinal Ratzinger
acknowledged that he had read the REAL Third Secret and that it speaks
of “The dangers threatening the faith and the life of the
Christian, and therefore the world, and also the importance of the last
times.” Cardinal Ratzinger said that the Third Secret had been
suppressed since 1960 “to avoid confusing religious prophecy with
sensationalism.” He also said, “But the things contained in this
Third Secret correspond to what is announced in Scripture and are
confirmed by many other Marian apparitions….” Howard Dee,
former Philippine ambassador to the Vatican, stated that “Cardinal
Ratzinger personally confirmed to me that these two messages, of Fatima
and Akita, are essentially the same.” (Inside the Vatican
magazine, 1998)
Church investigation
of Bayside, or a coverup?
In my investigation,
two things stood out for me: (1) the vitrolic hatred of Bayside by so
many priests and lay people. They hated Bayside more than abortion,
homosexuality, heresy and other truly abominable things. Why was this?
(2) Most Catholics (priests and laity) refused to look at evidence of
miracles, prophecies fulfilled, conversions, and even refused to talk
with priests who did believe in Bayside. It seemed to me that
the great majority of Catholics didn’t want to know the
truth about Bayside, they refused to look, unwilling to
change. I invited skeptics to talk to Bayside-believing
priests. The skeptics always rejected the invitation. Why was this? Were
they afraid of the truth? If they were truly confident in their belief,
why couldn’t they enter into a legitimate debate about Bayside? These
two themes have repeated over and over in my 40+ years of spreading the
Bayside message.
Fr.
Michael M. Burke, priest in the city of Corpus Christi, Texas, on January 23,
1988 wrote, “Actually I challenge that statement of the Brooklyn Chancery Office
because a properly conducted investigation has never taken place. To
verify this, let Fr. Dietzen try to get a transcript of the so-called
investigation to discover why the statements of Mrs. Lueken should be
condemned.”
We have additional evidence of a
Brooklyn diocese coverup from Ann Ferguson, Veronica’s personal
secretary. In a TLDM radio interview on December 1, 1991, Ann Ferguson
recounts Veronica’s attempt to meet with Bishop Mugavero in 1974:
Common sense would tell
anyone that you need objective evidence for any legitimate, truthful
investigation. The Church leaders know this. There are very clear
guidelines the Catholic Church provides to investigate apparitions:
Msgr. Otto Garcia,
former Chancellor for the Diocese of Brooklyn, has stated: “If the
amount of cures that are claimed were true, Lourdes and Fatima are
nothing, compared to Bayside.” (Current Affair: TV show)
Cardinal Bevilacqua, as a
Monsignor and chancellor for the diocese of Brooklyn stated,
“She’s [Veronica] not saying anything directly contrary to the
faith. . . .” (Boston Herald American, December 27,
1978)
We have to point out that the bishop
and priests of Brooklyn are not medical doctors, so they are not
competent to say when a cure is beyond the realms of medical science.
This is the competency of medical doctors. And we have plenty of
statements by medical doctors to this effect (
St. Joan of Arc:
When St. Joan of Arc was being tried by her local bishop, she warned
him: “You say that you are my judge; think well what you are
