Catholic Bishops and the LGBT Agenda: The Church Is Not a Social Club...
"I will not stand for My priests who condone homosexuality and allow it in My priesthood!... I will not stand by and allow My priesthood to be destroyed!" - Jesus, June 18, 1982
"I see that the high priests of the House of God have become soft in their ways. They cater to their bodies and do not wish to sacrifice and make penance. There will be no easy road to the Kingdom. They will get down on their knees, and they will starve their worldly bodies until they rid themselves of the demons within them.
Unless you listen now to my words of caution, you will fall into the trap that is being set for you. The enemy is within the House of God. He will seek to remove your Vicar from among you, and when he does he will place a man of dark secrets upon the Seat of Peter!" - St. Thomas Aquinas, August 21, 1972

Over the past several years, the LGBT agenda has been featured front and center in America’s culture wars, although Donald Trump’s second presidency has seen the issue nearly fade from public view altogether. The nation’s Catholic bishops, however, are continuing to ingratiate LGBTism. Under the pontificate of the late Pope Francis, numerous high-profiled priests and prelates vocally called for greater "representation" of and "dialogue" with the LGBT "community," with some even suggesting that the Catholic Church’s longstanding moral teachings on human sexuality must be changed.
While many conservative Catholics may have moved on from the issue, the bishops have not. Rhode Island’s Diocese of Providence, once a fairly normal diocese under the steady and even-handed leadership of Bishop Thomas Tobin, has recently embraced the push for LGBT "community," announcing the celebration of special LGBT Masses and social sessions, with Masses to be celebrated by incumbent Bishop Bruce Lewandowski.
August and September will see Holy Trinity Parish in Woonsocket and St. Mary of the Bay in Warren host the LGBT events. "Attend a Parish Catholic Community Gathering for LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and friends," the diocese’s flier reads. The events will include Mass, dinner, and "small group sharing" sessions, which the diocesan website describes as "dedicated time for listening humbly to the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and friends." No mention is made of catechesis, sharing the moral teachings of the Church on human sexuality, or supporting Catholics struggling with same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria in living out their God-given identities with faith and chastity.
Frankly, "listening humbly to the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and friends" does not, will not, and never can change the immutable moral teachings of Holy Mother Church. It may seem like a nice way to "welcome" those struggling with same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria to the Catholic Church, but it ultimately undermines the qualities that have attracted billions of souls to the Church over the last 2,000 years, even at the cost of their lives, freedom, and comfort.
The Catholic Church is not a social club. She is not a democracy. She is not a political party. She need not pitch a "big tent." For centuries, men and women around the world have suffered death, torture, imprisonment, ostracization, poverty, and other hardships for love of the Catholic Church. The Apostle Peter, the first Pope, did not host listening sessions to make the novel message of the Gospel appear "welcoming," but he inspired thousands to follow in the footsteps of Christ and lay down their lives just as He did.
When St. Edmund Campion defied the queen of England and was ordained a Jesuit priest, he did not attempt to dilute the Church’s moral teachings in a bid to appeal to those who had issues with those teachings, but instead led hundreds in martyrdom by affirming the teachings of the Church. St. Andrew Kim Taegon, the first Korean priest, was not martyred for affirming the moral chaos of the secular society; he was beheaded for confronting it and declaring the irrevocable truth of the Catholic Faith.
Bishop Lewandowski may have very fine intentions, but the past several decades of pandering and platitudinizing from bishops has demonstrated that contorting the Church into twisted configurations in order to remain "relevant" or appear more "welcoming" is a failed strategy. Nobody seeks the Catholic Church because she is "relevant" or "accessible." The centuries upon centuries of converts, faithful Catholics, and martyrs who have dedicated themselves to the Catholic Church and her perennial teachings have done so not because they attended special "welcoming" sessions, but because they seek order in the midst of chaos, a home in a world constantly adrift.

"Without the number of prayers needed to balance the scale and acts of reparation from the children of earth, there will be placed upon the Seat of Peter one who will put and place souls and the House of God into deep darkness." - Our Lady of the Roses, March 18, 1974
