Syria has the Key to World Peace or World War III...

"A Syria that can be manipulated by Hizbullah, which acts, in turn, under Iranian guidance, could well miss the crucial moment when Iran and Hizbullah attempt to spark a huge conflagration by means of a military provocation on Israel’s northern border." - The Jerusalem Reporter

Our Lady of the Roses message states that "Syria has the key to the solution of world peace or the Third World War" (Our Lady, May 30, 1981). The question is: why is Syria the key? What crucial role does this country play in the Middle East conflict? To answer these questions, some background information on Lebanon, the terrorist group Hizbullah, and Syria itself is necessary.

Syria's influence over Lebanon

According to WorldNetDaily columnist Joseph Farah, "Since 1976, Syrian military, security and intelligence forces have occupied Lebanon and held it captive to the interests of Damascus." Approximately 35,000 Syrians troops occupy this country and has also encouraged the emigration of some 1 million of its citizens to Lebanon. Furthermore, "Under Syrian control, Lebanon has become a haven for terrorist groups such as Hizbullah and Osama bin Laden's organization" ("Free Lebanon Now!" March 30, 2001).

In another article by Joseph Farah: "It [Lebanon] is one of the very few examples in the world today - perhaps the only one - of one nation totally dominating another and militarily occupying it" ("Free Syria," January 28, 2002).

Last year [May 2001], Israel withdrew its troops out of south Lebanon, "effectively leaving the Lebanese guerrilla movement, Hizbullah, in control" (BBC, "Syria 'accepts' Israeli withdrawal," May 31, 2000). The terrorist group Hizbullah has become stronger than ever. Reporter Ehud Ya'ari, referring to the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, writes, "The bottom line: Israel has, pure and simply, handed over control along the length of its northern border to a party that has declared Holy War against it."

And here's where Our Lady of the Roses message concerning Syria takes on added significance: "Hizbullah’s main effort has been supported by Iran and encouraged by Syria." Furthermore, "Syria managed to create a vacuum in South Lebanon that, predictably, has been filled by Hizbullah" (article, Hizballahstan," Ehud Ya'ari, The Jerusalem Report, June 19, 2000). Hizbullah has 7,000 rocket launchers against Israel

Secretary-general Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and his terrorist group Hizbullah have "more weapons now than they know what to do with." In another article by Ehud Ya'ari, it is reported that "Thanks to arms shipments by air and sea from Teheran, Sayed Hassan Nasrallah’s men now have at least 7,000 Katyusha rockets ready to fire off to Israel. Some are heavy, long-range missiles that threaten all the Galilee up to the outskirts of Haifa (and the nearby oil refineries)."

Hizbullah could very easily open up a "Second Front" in Israel's north, while Israel battles the Palestinians. Israel, according to Nasrallah, is now "weaker than a spider’s web."

Meanwhile, Syria, which calls all the shots in Lebanon, does nothing.

Syria acting as an accelerator for Hizbullah

It is interesting to note that Our Lady's message said that Syria had the key to world peace or World War III. Why does Syria have so much power? It seems that the answer has two parts. First of all, up to now Syria has poured cold water on virtually all peace initiatives between the Arab world and Israel. For example, in November of 2000 the OIC [Organization of the Islamic Conference, which represents leaders of the world's 1.2 billion Muslims] discussed severing diplomatic ties with Israel. At this meeting, the most radical views were expressed by "Iran and Syria, which demanded immediate action against Israel" (Muslim summit likely to call for severing ties with Israel, Ha'aretz, November 12, 2000).

Most recently, a peace proposal put forward by Saudi Arabia met with resistance by Syria. According to WorldNetDaily, "Saudi Arabia is backing down from its proposal to offer Israel normalized relations in favor of a much-publicized land-for-peace deal.... According to the report, a demand by Syria prompted the new position by Saudi Arabia, and it has been agreed to by the Arab council" ("Saudis backpedal on peace plan," March 10, 2002).

Was this the "key" to Middle East peace that Syria has now thrown away?

Secondly, Syria's leadership under President Hafez al-Assad is weak, naive, and easily manipulated. The Jerusalem Report states that "The young president is fascinated by Nasrallah. He accepts the Hizbullah secretary general’s patronizing praise, and has allowed Hizbullah to hold at least one paramilitary parade on Syrian soil, in the city of Latakia." The same article warns of the potential consequences of Assad's weakness: "A Syria that can be manipulated by Hizbullah, which acts, in turn, under Iranian guidance, could well miss the crucial moment when Iran and Hizbullah attempt to spark a huge conflagration by means of a military provocation on Israel’s northern border." And here is a line that echoes Our Lady's message: "The more Nasrallah is convinced that President Assad is not up to speed, the more he is convinced that he alone, in consultation with his Iranian cohorts, HOLDS THE KEY." [emphasis added]

With added time bought by Syria's inaction or even outright encouragement, Hizbullah has completed constructiion of a "line of forward positions along the Israeli border, complete with video cameras that track the IDF’s movements in order to learn the operational routine of its units." According to the same article, "Very soon, Hizbullah will also complete construction of its second line of defense deep in South Lebanon, meant to create a barrier against any Israeli armored advance. Suffice it to say that Hizbullah is aiming for the ability to shell Israel continuously over a period of several months, and in the event that Israel mounts a retaliatory invasion, to delay its progress by several days."

On the brink of all-out war

All of this information (and much more that is not available to the public), has prompted the United States to warn European leaders of the threat of Hizbullah: "The message the Americans recently conveyed to the foreign ministers of the European Union was simple: Watch Hizbullah, they warned, it has the ability--and perhaps the intention--of sparking an explosion that could lead to regional war." It is worth noting that a report provided to Congress on January 8th, 2002 says that the Pentagon should be prepared to use nuclear weapons in an Arab-Israeli conflict. This same report also named seven countries of significant threat, including Syria.

The timing of the pan-Arab offensive against Israel may be sooner rather than later. According to an article by Hal Lindsey, "Israeli intelligence reveals mounting evidence of a well-coordinated, multi-target attack against Israel during the Passover season by a number of terrorist organizations." Lindsey then quotes a DEBKAfile report that states, "A massive ingathering of terrorist forces -- Palestinians, the pro-Iran Lebanese Hezbollah and al-Qaida cells scattered around the Middle East and the Gulf -- is underway, preparatory to the launch of a large-scale terror offensive around March 25, three days before the Jewish spring festival of Passover."      Now as I am watching—it's a map of... oh, I can see Jerusalem, and Egypt, Arabia, French Morocco, Africa. Oh, my goodness! There seems to be a very dense darkness now settling upon those countries. Oh, my!
     And Our Lady is saying:

GATHERING AT PALESTINE
Veronica - And oh, oh! And over by the top of the steeple, I see Saint Francis over there, by--over the top of the church there's Saint Francis. Oh, and he's picking up this bird; He's holding the bird in his hand, the bird. The bird looks like it might have died; its very limp. And Saint Francis now is placing his hand over the bird. No, it's sitting up in Saint Francis' hand, and Saint Francis is pointing over, over to the right side. He wants me to look over the right side.
   He--oh, I see. He's pointing over, and over the right side is a map. And he said peace also will be denied the areas shown. Oh, dear! I can see Egypt, and I see, oh, Asia. Oh, I see a lot of people there; they're all marching. They look like, kind of like Chinese . . . Chinese. And oh, they're getting ready for war. They've got all these tanks . . . all these tanks. And they're all marching, the armies; there's a whole lot of them. There's so many of them! Many of them look like young children, but there's so many of them. Oh! And Our Lady said:
   Our Lady - "They are gathering their strength."
   Veronica - I know that's China, and all these kind of--I guess yellow countries. Our Lady's placing--She's writing "Y-E-L-L-O-W" on the top, right over the map there. And oh, it looks like they're getting ready for an awful war or something. They're--oh, yes, they're all marching. Oh, oh. They're all dressed alike; they're very, very . . . Oh, there's women, too. There's women, too, that are marching with them, and the girls--the girls look very young; they look very young.
   Oh! Oh! Oh, now over them I see--oh-h . . . oh, it's Russia! I see Russia now is talking. Oh, they're at a big desk, a rather large desk. And that . . . umh! At the desk I can see . . . I know he's Russian. But sitting next to him . . . looks like someone I have seen before, like . . . I don't know . . . looks almost like Mr. Kissinger . . . I don't know. But he's sitting at the desk also, and it looks like they're planning; they're talking about . . . arms or support. I think there's going to be something going on. And Russia is going to . . .
