Anti-Israeli anger sweeps Arab world - April 5, 2002

Egypt has scaled back its links with Israel amid increasing frustration over Israel's offensive....Thousands of demonstrators at Al-Azhar mosque in Cairo on Friday called for military intervention by a pan-Arab force, chanting: "One, two, where is the Arab army?" Egyptian cleric seeks more suicide bombings - April 8, 2002

Saudi Telethon Raises Over $100 Million for Palestinians _ April 13, 2002

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - More than $100 million has been collected in a telethon that ended Saturday to raise money for the Palestinians and also allowed Saudis to vent their anger against Israel and the United States on state-owned television.

Ordinary Saudis taking part have shown support for Palestinian suicide bombings at a time when President Bush is demanding that all Arab governments unequivocally condemn such attacks.

A 6-year-old boy, with a plastic gun slung over his shoulder and fake explosives strapped around his waist, walked into a donation center and made a symbolic donation of plastic explosives, according to Al Watan daily.

On the eve of Powell's arrival in Morocco, at least a half-million people took to the streets of the capital, Rabat, to protest Israel's military operations and U.S. backing for the Sharon government. Tunisia

TUNIS, Tunisia, April 12 — Tunisian leaders, backed by local Jewish officials, struggled on Friday to deflect suspicions that a deadly truck blast outside North Africa’s oldest synagogue site was a suicide attack. Six people were killed in the explosion.

THE COUNTRY’S eight daily newspapers all reinforced the official line that the blast was an accident and not linked to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Four German tourists, a policeman and the driver of the tanker, which was filled with cooking gas, died when the truck blew up outside the El Ghriba Jewish shrine on Thursday on the resort island of Djerba, according to Tunisian authorities.

They issued a list of 32 people injured, 26 of them Germans and most seriously hurt.

A spokesman for the German travel firm TUI said a coach carrying about 45 tourists was near the synagogue at the time of the explosion and was hit by the wave of the blast.

TRIPOLI, April 1 (Reuters) - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi led a mass march through Tripoli to show solidarity with Palestinians on Monday and urged Arab states to allow volunteer fighters to cross borders and join the Palestinian uprising.
     "Arab leaders have to take to the streets and join protesters, open the borders to people who want to fight to free al Qods (Jerusalem) and Abu Ammar and incite people to fight," Gaddafi told a rally at Green Square in central Tripoli.
     Eyewitnesses said thousands marched in the Libyan capital to protest against Israel's siege of Palestinian leader Yasser, also known here as Abu Ammar. They halted in Green Square and the adjacent streets to hear Gaddafi's fiery oratory.
