Fr. J. P. Arendzen, in his book What Becomes of the Dead?, has a chapter on the children's Limbo. In his opinion there is no reason to think the children will be separated from their parents. He states: "... all those infants retain their human nature, even in the house of their eternity, where, at least after the resurrection, they will be with body and soul forever. Furthermore, they must naturally desire to see the parents to whom, under God, they owe their existence, and there is no imaginable reason why God should refuse them, as He wishes to give natural happiness to their innocence."

The happiness of Limbo...

"And what, My children, are We going to do with all the aborted babies?  Oh My child, I know you feel as I do, for I can see the great distress on your face.  What are We going to do, My child?  Do you understand when they come to Us, they must go to Limbo?  They are in Heaven, a happy place, but they cannot see God.  I know you cannot understand fully this, My child, and I know it hurts you to the heart; but it is the ways of the Eternal Father to know just how a soul shall ascend or descend.” – Our Lady of the Roses, October 2, 1987

This excellent article on Limbo by John Young is from the August 7, 2008 issue of the Wanderer:

Vincent Ferro, in his letter in The Wanderer Forum of May 22 [2008], rightly deplores the tragedy of aborted babies being deprived of Heaven. Statements of the Magisterium, several of which he cites, make it certain that, speaking generally, unbaptized children who die before the age of reason do not go to Heaven. There could be exceptions, but we have no good grounds for thinking so.

Their exclusion from the Beatific Vision is also clear from the testimony of the Church Fathers and of orthodox theologians through the ages. Some recent theologians speak of the development of doctrine in this matter, but that is impossible because the first essential for doctrinal development is harmony between the earlier and later positions. However, the change from "unbaptized infants don't go to Heaven" to "unbaptized infants do go to Heaven" involves a contradiction, not a development.

The current widespread opinion, even among Catholics who are generally orthodox, that these children enter Heaven has the unfortunate consequence of a failure to see the worst evil inflicted on the unborn by abortion — they are deprived of the vision of God. Failure to see this can lessen one's motivation to oppose abortion.

It also leads to carelessness about having children baptized within the first weeks after birth (an obligation stated in canon law — canon 867), leaving their salvation in peril, as there is always the danger that they will die.

Let us look at the question of Limbo, for an understanding of this can be a consolation for parents whose children have died unbaptized and who may tend to think of them as now dwelling in a shadowland where they are only half alive.

We can start by recalling that Heaven is a destiny beyond anything demanded by our human nature. It is a pure gift from God surpassing what is due to us. He could well have chosen to leave us in a merely natural state. In that condition we would have been fully human, having an immortal soul, intelligence, and free will.

In his encyclical Humani Generis Pope Pius XII criticizes those theologians who "destroy the gratuitous character of the supernatural order by suggesting that it would be impossible for God to create rational beings without ordaining them for the Beatific Vision and calling them to it" (n. 26).

The influence of that condemned position is one reason why Limbo is now so often dismissed. Another reason is the denial of original sin: If the child is not conceived and born in a state of original sin, what's to stop him from going to Heaven?

What would our destiny have been had we not been given the free gift of supernatural life? After death, had we led good lives, we would have known God as well as could be done without grace, and would have loved Him accordingly. It would have been a high and intense knowledge and love, for the human soul, of its very nature, is capable of that. The soul is a spirit, made in God's image and likeness, and necessarily ordered to Him as its final end, to know, love, and enjoy Him forever.

The souls in Limbo are in the equivalent of that hypothetical natural state. They know God to the full extent of their human powers, and love Him above all things. They are no longer restricted by the body, as we are in the present life, so their manner of knowing and loving is more perfect than ours. It is more like that of the angels. Of course they are no longer children: because the soul is a spirit it does not develop like the body.

Think of the most joyful hour you ever experienced, then multiply it many times and imagine it lasting forever. That gives some idea of the life of souls in Limbo.

A fine theologian in the earlier part of the 20th century, Fr. J. Furthermore, they must naturally desire to see the parents to whom, under God, they owe their existence, and there is no imaginable reason why God should refuse them, as He wishes to give natural happiness to their innocence." Arendzen adds that those in Heaven will wish to see their children and brethren, and there is no reason to think God will refuse them this joy.  He continues: "It seems therefore a certain inference that intercourse between Saints and the Innocents in Limbo will be possible, and this would redound to the glory of Christ, the unifier and restorer of all things."

Parents grieving over the death of their unbaptized child should be assured that the child is wonderfully happy and is with God. But they should not be told the child is in Heaven. If they become convinced that it is, and that this is the current teaching of the Church, and then the Magisterium speaks against it, they may be in danger of losing their faith.

Will the Church in the near future rule against the belief that unbaptized children go to Heaven? I think it is likely to happen within maybe the next 20 years, because the traditional position is so widely disputed today, with the consequence that many parents are neglecting to have their children baptized early. The problem is serious and needs urgent attention.

Abortion is not seen in its full horror if one assumes aborted babies go to Heaven. In reality, the greatest evil to the aborted child is that of having been deprived of Heaven. A realization of this should motivate us more strongly to oppose abortion.

Pope Sixtus V made a statement in 1588 about aborted infants. In the constitution Effraenatam, which prescribed the death penalty for those who carry out abortions, Sixtus says a consequence of abortion is that "not just bodies, but — still worse! — even souls, are, as it were, cast away." He continues: "Who, therefore, would not condemn and punish with the utmost severity the desecration committed by one who has excluded such a soul from the blessed vision of God?"

"You must understand that none shall come to the Eternal Father except through My Son.  You ask, My child, of the thousands of lives upon earth, those who do not accept My Son, what has become and what will become of them?  If they have received the knowledge of My Son and reject Him wilfully, they cannot be saved.  Of course, My child, the Eternal Father is all merciful; We cannot condemn, He cannot condemn the innocent of heart.  However, there are rules of Heaven, too, justified rulings, that none shall see the Beatific Vision unless they come through My Son.” – Our Lady of the Roses, May 29, 1976

“The Church, as far as all evidence shows, from the second to the seventh century universally believed it is to be revealed that an infant dying before any use of reason, and unbaptized, cannot attain to the beatific vision.”

Crucifix on front and back door...  The only real protection against terrorists...
Jesus - "Pray and wear your sacramentals. And, also, My children, I ask you again to place a crucifix upon your door. Both front and back doors must have a crucifix. I say this to you because there will be carnage within your areas, and this will pass you by if you keep your crucifix upon your doors." Heaven’s Home Protection Packet...
Our Lord stated we must have crucifixes upon the outside of all of our outside doors. In the "Heaven’s Home Protection Packet" there are instructions, four crucifixes, and a tube of special cement for wooden or metal crucifixes. Wooden crucifixes adhere better to the doors when the aluminum strap is removed from the back. Put a light coat of cement on the back of the crucifix and then press it to the outside of the door. If you have any problems, you can call us at 616-698-6448 for assistance. This Heaven’s Home Protection Packet is available for a donation of $5.00 plus $3.00 shipping and handling. Send $8.00 to TLD Ministries, P.O. Box 40, Lowell, MI 49331. Item # P15  (Order Form)

Our Lady of the Roses, Mary Help of Mothers promises to help protect our children. On September 13, 1977, She said, "He has an army of ogres wandering now throughout your country and all of the countries of the world. They are in possession of great power; so wear your sacramentals, and protect your children and your households. Learn the use every day of holy water throughout your household. Insist even with obstructions, insist that your children always wear a sacramental. One day they will understand that they will repel the demons."
On February 1, 1974, Our Lady said, "My children, know the value of these sacramentals. Guard your children well. You must awaken to the knowledge that you will not be protected without the sacramentals. Guard your children's souls. They must be surrounded with an aura of purity. Remove them if necessary from the sources of contamination, be it your schools or even false pastors."
