MSNBC reported on December 13, 2002:

Cardinal Bernard Law, under intense fire for his handling of the church sex abuse scandal, resigned Friday as archbishop of Boston. Law still faces a subpoena to testify before a Boston grand jury, and Massachusetts’ attorney general told NBC on Friday that his investigation into allegations of rape and other sexual crimes by Boston-area priests would continue.
